How to Make Upvotes on Steemit More Interesting!! (Suggestion)
Steemit is becoming a wonderful ecosystem for author, and people with creative minds, where they get rewarded for a post that the community believes is valuable or serves as a contribution to the community. A times though, you wonder whether the reward is being skewed towards a certain group of people more than others. It takes hard work and longevity though before you can really begin to reap the reward of continuous contributions to the community on a regular basis.

At the moment, most votes that change the luck of an author or a post happens between the first 30 minutes and an hour. If you vote too early, you lose out and if you vote too late, like behind a whale, you don't get much either. Many posts get to "bump" after about an hour, meaning, if your posts don't get any valuable upvotes within about an hour or so, you can almost certainly know that it will not be a successful post, unless a whale appears from no where an does your the favor of upvoting your post. I have seen great and wonderful posts go to the bin, or rushed to the bottom of the pile just because they don't get the exposure the powerful users get. Although, I have also come across some extremely terrible posts that deserve to be voted down. I guess the community is evolving and will be able to deal with such with greater speed and accuracy. I guess a way to get noticed quickly is by building a following , a follower of users that can almost immediately see you post and upvote. It they have enough voting power, you will be lucky, but if most of your followers have reputation below 30, their voting power hardly has any effect.
Suggestions
So what if another voting pattern is adopted such that rewards are also given as well, for the last 30 minutes of the life of the post without extending the time? This will really help those posts that are really good and about to go down the pile without any rewards to begin to get a look in. It will begin to make "curators" if they can still be called that, look through the system for such posts and get them upvoted and rewarded. A sifting by time of post can also be adopted to help find this posts easily. I know the main reason why an additional 12 hours is added to the life of a post is to prevent crabs from skewing the outcome of payouts or allow for time to normalize the actual worth of the vote. But, to prevent great contributors who have tried severally without success from leaving the platform, this might be a good idea. The voting power might need to be reduced for the last 30 minutes to maybe 15% of the voting power of the first 30 minutes. This is just to ensure that such good but dying posts get a form of reward no matter how small.
I am almost certain of one thing, that with such adoption or a refined version of it, there will be a race to looking for good posts that are about to complete the first life cycle!
This idea is still evolving in my mind and will share my thoughts as I get to refine it.

Thanks @knircky for your comment. Well just thinking aloud regarding good posts that don't really get the exposure they desire and what possible options there are to help such. If you don't have good following, your posts go down the pile as quickly as they get posted, without recognition, hence my wondering aloud.
It's not that easy for a newbie to understand the cryptocurrency principles and the steemian system. Your suggestion is very useful although I still son't understand the system.
as a new user I support your suggestion. .I prayed the whales will assist us grow in Steemit.. looking forward to good news in this platform

Yes, it definetly looks like a good idea.
Previously it already used to be a payout section to expose posts short before payout. I used to make some upvotes there just to encourage people who did got just a few upvotes to continue ... but the section is no more available (
Also I had my own good experience as one of mine own posts with lots of upvotes and comments, but below 1$ reward, suddenly got 10$ tip on day 30.
Thanks @svamiva for your contribution. It won't be a bad idea to bring back that section, possibly beside promoted posts. It will really encourage contributors who try over and over again, but without any success. I know staying on steemit is a long term investment, at least for me, but in the short term, it should help people have the confidence that their efforts will pay off eventually
The Payout Time page was really useful for finding good content that went unnoticed, I was also using it often. Unfortunately it has been retired in favor of the Promoted page when it was introduced as a new feature... Currently it is really hard to find older content, like after the first payout period passed (unless it goes trending) and that apparently needs some more, otherwise a lot of good content just gets buried down.
