The Ethereum Based 'Lunyr' Project ICO - Explained - PART 1
Lunyr is a new crypto-economic asset built on Ethereum, aimed to get the economic incentives right for distributed online knowledge sharing. Described by its Co-Founders, Andrew Tran & Arnold Pham, ‘A Decentralised world Knowledge Base on Ethereum’.
The Token sale in currently live and will be for the next three weeks.
To put it another way, Lunyr is a project that aims to bring to the masses a New Age Wikipedia like platform which will be able to give users accurate information and using multiple different mediums/media to do so.
An ambitious project, but one that is possible and well within reach due to the creation of the decentralised Ethereum Block-chain.
A good indicator for any project that has a high chance of success is the Team that is involved, and the Lunyr Team does not fail to deliver in this department.
The Lunyr team includes technical leaders, entrepreneurs, and successful advisors and each of the core team members have cofounded at least one start-up previously to this project. This encompasses a team of individuals who are very much capable of building and creating a strong business and able to build out Lunyr competently.
Also, to gauge the calibre of the Lunyr Projects Team, it is worth noting that the leadership team actively contributes to the Ethereum community and organizes the second largest Ethereum meetup in Silicon Valley, which in my eyes is another positive where the Lunyr Team is concerned.
Looking at what Lunyr has to offer, currently the best comparison one could make to Lunyr is Wikipedia. Wikipedia is the go-to platform for fact checking for people from all professions and very much a favourite for students, but Wikipedia is not without its pitfalls, and since anyone can add/update the information listed there and since the content is not actively moderated, the information cannot be trusted and so the information needs to be cross-referenced by other information sources to ensure that the information is correct.
And why should people make the effort to moderate Wikipedia? There is no benefit to anyone who moderates any of the information that is hosted by Wikipedia. However, with Lunyr, this is a different story. I will delve into this a little further in another blog where I’ll be looking more into the technicals of the Lunyr Project.
As an overview, Lunyr is set up in a way where users will be rewarded for their efforts unlike its current competitors.
As I mentioned earlier, Lunyr aim to deliver content in a much more diverse way than any other platform about there, where Wikipedia is basically just walls of text with photos’ for reference, Lunyr aim to use API to deliver information to its users using AI, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality to further widen their appeal to its users.
So not only will users be able to use Lunyr as a conventional platform but they will also be able explore the platform with other types of media that are up and coming.
You can imagine where you’ll be able to use the platform by simply asking a question, much like you would with Google or Siri on your phone.
Or by seeing and exploring the information through the use of a Virtual Reality (VR) Headset, not just emerging yourself in the text but with visual representations of the information. Just think how beneficial this will be for children and students alike, not forgetting to mention the everyday user.
On top of this, using the information stored on the Lunyr platform using Augmented Reality will be something that is planned for the future use of Lunyr. The possibilities are endless and with the Lunyr Platform built out for the use through modern technology such as VR and Augmented Reality, Lunyr is well placed to capitalise on bringing this use case to the forefront and to the masses.
In a nutshell, Lunyr is a New Age Wikipedia and is built for the 21st Century, the ways in which Lunyr will better anything else out there will be evident during its development stage.
