How Steemit will shape the Charities of the Future

I could never bring myself to 'Like' a saddening story of Facebook, stories that told the hardships and the poverty of people in certain countries and communities, or of someone having had a very bad experience and genuinely needing help. It just seemed highly inappropriate to 'Like' the post and if I did 'Like' the post what good will it have served??

What is needed is a facility where people raising awareness and charities for these kind of causes have a place to reach out to people in an environment where people can choose to help if they so wished, right? I have always hoped Facebook would evolve into something like this, but as time has told, this has not happened and is unlikely to happen.

However, with Steemit, this is entirely possible and could happen in the future as the platform continues to develop. 

Just imagine a place where the power of the crowd in an environment of millions of people can actually have a meaningful impact to help the less fortunate in society and parts of the world where people need it most or to help the homeless in a way that has never been possible before. Not only can the community help but can also help bring the worthy genuine cases 'trend' so that they get the attention they need.

Charities need all the help they can get.

Think about Huricane Katrina or the Napalese Eathquake, I would have loved to have seen a platform where people could have the ability to help these people immediately and directly.

Steemit has the opportunity to completely re-write how donations are made to people or communities that need it, and where the usres can actually interact and communicate with those they are helping both seeing the progress of their situation and actually see how the money is being spent, giving complete transparency. Something that is not present with the Charities of today.

So in the future, your 'Like' will actually mean something and will actually be financially contributing to the benefit of other people's lives, giving the users of the platform a chance to make a real difference in the world.

Steemit will prove to be much more than just a Social Platform I'm sure, it has the potential to disrupt many sectors, Charities being just one of them. . .
