Steemit is the future social media landscape

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Watch this short interview with Ned talking about Steemit with 100,000+ accounts.

"If we have ten million unique viewers a day all our other problems are solved."

6 Months ago Steemit had 1103 active authors and 3,044 active voters.
and Yesterday there were 2829 active authors and 6137 active voters!

Now check out Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 talking about Facebook, at 100,000 users.

According to his roommate, Dustin Moskovitz, "When Mark finished the site, he told a couple of friends ... then one of them suggested putting it on the Kirkland House online mailing list, which was ... three hundred people." Moskovitz continued to say that, “By the end of the night, we were ... actively watching the registration process. Within twenty-four hours, we had somewhere between twelve hundred and fifteen hundred registrants."

By 2014 Facebook had captured 53% of social media users and risen to be the most popular social media site. Facebook priced its initial public offering at $38 a share, which would value the company at $104 billion.

"As of the third quarter of 2016, Facebook had 1.79 billion monthly active users. In the third quarter of 2012, the number of active Facebook users had surpassed 1 billion. Active users are those which have logged in to Facebook during the last 30 days."

What will the future of Steemit be? We get to write this story.

"Content provides the value to the Steemit social media platform. It is most similar to the water that circulates through a conventional steam power plant. Vaporized into steam one day, more content appears instantly." -DonkeyPong

Social media users will reach close to 3 billion by 2020. Where would you rather post?
I would prefer a platform that pays me in digital currency for creating and curating content.

Steemit encourages me to take some time with my posts. Steemit demands I make an effort.
And Steemit makes me want to write more than just a Tweet or a Status Update.

It feels like a return to the old web, we are creating a completely new landscape for social media. The days of Geocities FortuneCity and Tripod. When we used Netscape and Yahoo. From ICQ to MSN to FB and beyond, we are finding ways to bring us together. Social media won't go away, it is part of our online experience now.

So ask yourself, what can we publish now that will benefit Steemit in the long term?
