THE EPIDEMIC OF PETTINESS: LETS RISE ABOVE PETTINESS

Most of us are not aware of the PETTY EPIDEMIC we are facing.

 "A bee is  willing to end its own life just to cause a tiny amount of pain. I am  sure a lot of you out there can relate to this level of pettiness"

 I saw this bee quote above somewhere and i totally agree to it. I have seen so much pettiness lately that it makes me wonder about what happened to people being mature over situations.  

I have seen people who glorify being petty..sort of like "I am petty and I know it".  They sacrifice great friendship by trying to hurt their friend (or  stranger) so hard for offending them (real or imaginary) and then the  friendship dies and they go through another sad circle of not having  friends they can confide in... 

I have seen people in government  act so petty in responding to opposition or perceived opponents. Of  course we know of such recent cases . Truth is, the social media is experiencing a 'petty epidemic' in our times.   

We have people who would comment on posts just to sub the writer or  another person that comments and won't stop until they have the last  say...and don't care whether they are making sense or not.  We have people that  would rather stop speaking to you,  instead of  apologizing when they realize they are wrong or wronged you... We  have people that will come off a petty battle or pour out the hurt from  it on other people they had no issues with and thus strain their  relationships with those people... Yes, pettiness has been epic lately.

 Can we please start toning it down? Let's let go of all this pettiness and just grow.  

Dear victim of the petty, petty people will drag you down with their  insults, criticisms and put downs. Try not to stoop to their level. It  is their own ignorance/insecurity at that time that drives their  behaviour and it has nothing to do with you...if you find yourself at a  war of views with them, don't waste your time with explanations because  petty people will only hear what they want to hear...

 

Dear petty  friend, have you realized yet that you have lost many close friends to  pettiness? You have also started so many wars online that has brought a  circle of hurt to humanity, and you expect to be hurt-free? Work your growth out of the pettiness stage. You can do it.   Never forget that being petty will make you make other people to be  victims of your own ignorance, insecurities, smallness, bitterness, etc.   Being petty is indeed a social disorder and if society gets  populated by more petty people, even you won't like it because  everywhere you turn you will be getting into petty wars and battles and  it will drain you of your good and your energy too. Don't create dramas of your own insecurity in the lives of people that come close to you.
Don't be like the bee that could live if it forgives an obstruction but would rather sting the Obstructor and die. 

  Finally, giving power to petty people via governance is empowering them  with the sort of power that petty should never have. When a petty  person is in a place of power, we end up seeing pettiness power the  society.  As you go about admiring that social media influencer  or political leader that is shaping your thoughts and behaviours with  his/her posts or idiosyncrasies, be sure you aren't being influenced to  be petty without knowing because the social media is a place pettiness  has been seen to be rife and easily spread. 

Let's rise above pettiness.
Let's take our society away from the petty.
