How "Transparency" Makes Steemit More Fair... While Appearing Less Fair

Here is a screenshot of CEO @ned's wallet:

Steemit is the most transparent economic system / social media site that I've ever seen. Everyone gets to see exactly where all the money is and gets to know exactly what the rules are.

The risk is...

A system that is more fair, might appear less fair, if it is more transparent

People judge themselves according to their surroundings. If you're around people richer than you, you'll feel poor. If you're around people poorer than you, you'll feel rich.

If everytime you went on Facebook you had to look at posts of Mark Zuckerberg giving away millions of dollars to his friends and employees, you'd constantly have to deal with how "unfair" the system is.

We are accustomed to economic systems without transparency.

Governments, banks, corporations, and even social media sites are always moving money around behind closed doors and constantly changing the rules to work in their favour.

In nontransparent systems, the average user doesn't stand a chance.

So is Steemit unfair???

Yes! Just like everything else in the game of life.

Could Steemit be more fair than it currently is?

Probably! I believe it will become increasingly more fair.

But let's step back and look at the big picture:

I'd say Steemit looks more fair!

I'm not saying we shouldn't try to improve the platform...

I'm just saying... I'm happy to be here!

and...

...the very thing that leads people to think that Steemit is less fair... is the thing that makes it more fair...

Odd how that works, isn't it? upvoted
