Dear Diary: My Medicine Leaves a Bitter Taste In My Mouth And I Am Finding Ways To Fight It
What does Astronauts and Cryptopie have in common? When they both eat they can't taste food much because when I eat. I am laying down and it bothers with the natural tasting of my food ass blood gets equalized on my head and body. It is the same for the space explorers, blood in their body is equalized throughout their bodies and it is stuffing their heads.
That is nothing compared to my additional problem as of the moment. The medicine that I am taking makes my tongue tastes bitter all the time and I have to endure this throughout the course of my prescription period. Some patients as told by my nurse who took what I am taking right now didn't make it. I don't know what my nurse meant if they discontinued or they died taking the medicine but one thing is for sure, taking this medicine is really hard.
I have only came across one medicine that makes my tongue bitter and it was years ago when I have to take this antibiotic when I was having a cough. It turns out that my cough was due to water in my lungs and I just needed it to get sucked up by dialysis and I am okay again, no more cough. But some patients doesn't know that technique and they capitulate.
Now I have to find ways to combat my taste problem, "Taste Perversion" I think of what it is called and I just hope that it goes away soon. Maybe my medicine will get adjusted if my body is reacting good to the medicine and in that way I wouldn't get as much discomfort and this annoying nausea when dialysis day comes near and all that bitterness are in its peak.
I might need some spice on my food now. I think I might want to add some seasonings by my side so I can just sprinkle some on my food when I eat. I do not like too much spicy foods because it makes my scalp particularly drip with sweat. So you can see me dripping with sweat over there and I really don't like that. Now I have no choice but to augment my food's flavor so I can survive my medicine regimen.
Hey Cryptopie. Sad to hear things are not very tasty. Try using a small dab of natural sea salt on your finger tip. just a little dab here and there. It does not take much plus you don't want to get overdosed on your sodium levels.
Also a bit of baking soda can go a long way in battling bitter aftertaste you can try a wee bit in your water with perhaps some lemon. Those two together make alkaline water which is also very beneficial to your immune system.
Something else that can help is to suck on a cinnamon stick
You don't want to chew them just stick one in your mouth and suck on it like a big fat Cuban cigar.
I hope these ideas help you cope with the bad taste.
Take care until next time.

But this bitter taste goes away after dialysis but comes back as the days goes by until I get dialyzed again.
