Serious question: why would any investor hold Steem (Power)?
I have been here for more than 6 months so I know a lot about the platform. What are really failed to see is why people would hold/trade Steem like they do with other cryptocurrencies. Worst you have two types:
1- Those who don't participate here
2- Those who just curate
And then normal users who post comment and might invest to have more Steem power. I didn't as I prefer spend my time here and get more Steem that way.
So does anyone have an opinion on this?
The hardforks didn't really change the situation. The price is just slowly going down.
We have a kinda killer product, but not a killer market! Simple economics.
How come one doesn't imply the other ?
I've worked in tech and seen many killer products with no market or hungry hordes. Marketing must fuse them both together when they are present ... just ask Apple or Amazon!
Now I am wondering about this killer app thing. I mean Ethereum is looking for it like it some holy grail and it might Akasha, an Ethereum based Steemit-like platform. Maybe only people who are using Steemit on a daily basis see the real potential. I mean look at the cash made by Snapchat. Steemit did get a lot of money in the early stages though. The word is incentive(I am really starting to hate that word): what is Steemit doing to ease the flow of money?
Ethereum is a billion $ dollar space ship compared to the small Steemit rocket that is still earth bound - still to find its escape velocity??
But Steemit won't win with just a first mover advantage.
Very little. I've seen a few people try very hard to purchase Steem, and simply fail.
They can't turn their USD into Steem easily. It's a huge hassle every time, always having to go through complicated third parties. It's such a pain, that most people that I've known who've wanted to buy Steem Power simply give up, and spend their money elsewhere.
How can this be fixed? There needs to be an extremely easy way to buy Steem Power with USD.
That's a down part of all the crypto stuff. You have to become big enough to have direct interaction with money.
