Which is Worse for Steemit- Being Acquired and Turned into a Profit Machine or Fading into Oblivion?

Both scenarios are likely.

Which is worse for the Steemit community?

For me, fading into oblivion is a tragedy and turning into a profit machine is a loss. I am upset at the developments that have happened this year.
