Everybody reading this text has probably worked with Microsoft Word or Open Office before and knows how easy formatting is: You just mark the text and click the according button... but not so in Steemit! It's a little more work, but still easy. Steemit uses basic html codes and we will show you the most important ones:
Header
Just put a # in front of the word with a space between, and it will look look like that:
Blahblahblah
Bold
Italic
Just put _ right before and after the text and it will look like this:
Blahblahblah
Bold + Italic
You can of course combine the codes to make your text bold AND italic.
Simply combine the codes at the beginning and end of the text, but starting with the italic code and you 'll get a text like this:
Steemit formatting is easier than I thought!
Center images
Simply use following code to center your images:
If you wanna bind in a link into a text or word just use the following code:
Now that you know how to format on Steemit, you have to admit it's easier than you thought, isn't it?
Btw: Writing this article on my smartphone, it took some time, but it's definitely possible as you can see ;)

Hey cryptocentral,
Thanks for choosing me as an example of how to format posts, I'm no expert at it and i'm still experimenting all the time! One thing is for sure, the presentation of a post is absolutely crucial to capture and retain the attention of the reader!
I find it is quite hard to find a good balance between formatting enough detail and not over doing it - paragraphing text usually helps very much with that, especially if you are writing something quite text heavy!
I would just like to add that it is always good idea to revisit the Markdown Guide for a complete run down on what you can do with markdown to format the text.
Some other things I like to do is also use HTML for aligning images left and right :
Thank you for that info! Guess that is advanced formatting already, will cover that in a separate post then!
What I was wondering was how to make a footer consisting of several images scaleable. As it stands my footer looks exactly like what I want on PC but looks aweful on phone because it doesn't scale and puts pictures on different lines. Do you know how to fix it?
Really? How come it works with some people's footers then? Is there really no other way other than just editing the photos into one photo.
Could you provide an example plz?
@jacobchamplain Thank you very much, implemented that into the post!
I tried a few weeks ago to format my posts and it came up with the codes in my post, also when I check raw html for center of headings and lines they look good but when I post they aren't centered and the lines come out doubled.
Where I'm I going wrong?
This is a good post for Newbies. Where else can Newbies find information about formatting text in Steemit posts? Thanks. I upvoted, retweeted and followed.
Thank you very much!
Upvoted. Now I understand how to put my texts at the center and how to put a link. thank you.
