Stop abusing the Steemit flagging system

in #steemit8 years ago

Reddit was once the greatest social media platform on the internet. It wasn't perfect, by no means, but no matter who you were, what you believed in, what fucked up things you were into, you could find some like-minded people to chat with.

These days Reddit is an epic dumpster fire. Users, mods and admins now operate on the 'working towards the fuhrer model. The subreddits are filled with brigaders who down-vote content for any number of reasons. Mods of the big default subs are even worse and will censor content or links that oppose their political or social narrative. Even the admins have started tweaking the algorithm in an effort to hide content that is considered distasteful which could be any number of things, from promotion of a political figure considered by some users as undesirable or a social movement that they consider disruptive to their business model.

I get it, it's a private business. If they don't want to serve some users, then that's their choice. If I don't want to bake a cake for someone then I don't have too...oh wait, pay no attention to those last two sentences. Anyway, every couple months some other sub or niche audience gets banned or disenfranchised and there's another mass exodus. Some find new homes, some create new accounts, and I bet there are some here on Steemit right now. Anyway, I got side tracked a bit. Here is my point: Don't flag shit that you disagree with or find distasteful. That's not what it’s for.

Flagging Don'ts

Don't flag pornography. If the thumbnail is clean and there's a NSFW tag, leave it be.

Don't flag political or social movements you disagree with or find offensive.

Don't flag comments. If you don't like what someone is saying, hit the reply button.

Flagging Do's

Tagging abuse

Child porn

Content and comment spammers (leave the shit posters alone)

Is Sad to see so many abuse the system!!
If you don't like the Post, move along.
I have mention in my Poster before.
You don't flagged posters if they are in the wrong section. (Tagged Wrongly)

There should be a list of content flagged in the personal lists so that anyone can browse what you've flagged so that everyone can be reviewed by anyone and held accountable for their flags of a political nature

Agreed. I've witnessed users flagging comments so that their comment would be closer to the top in a submission. That shit needs to be called out.
