Numbers, stats, charts: Analyzing the top trending posts regarding countries and gender.

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

I spent my sunday analyzing the the top trending posts (30 days) in #introduceyourself, aggregated the data and created some charts. They include data like votes, comments, earned money, country and gender.

What did I do?

  • I read the top 50 trending posts (30 days) in #introduceyourself. All of them. Yes.
  • I collected the data regarding earnings, votes, comments, country and gender (sometimes they are missing)
  • Then I aggregated, clustered and analyzed the data and created charts
  • All the charts refer to that data. Date: 21/08/2016

Let the charts speak for theirselves:

First some general descriptive data:
(You may recognize the huge empirical variance)

Additional interesting stats (top 50 trending posts in #introduceyourself:)

  • Dollar per comment: min 0.60$ / avg 18.45$ / max 57.09$
  • Dollar per vote: min 0.68$ / avg 5.32$ / max 14.44$
  • Dollar per reputation: min 0.24$ / avg 15.29$ / max 220.60$

Let's take a look at the charts and start with country / continent analysis.

Dollars earned by continent

Some disappointment at the beginning. You see that I was not able to identify all countries where posters live.

Average dollars per continent

You see some significant differences between the continents.
(Always remember the sample size is not too big)

Number of posts int the top 50 trending per continent

This speaks for itself I think.

Average comments per continent

Posts from North America are commented significantly more often than others.

Average reputation (among the bloggers who said in which countries they live)

Asia behind. Again the sample size should be considered but you get an idea.
North American and European bloggers have nearly identical reputation.

Now let's have a look at gender specific numbers and charts:

Average revenue per post and gender

...talking about equal pay day...
and organizations / websites / projects tend to earn more money than individuals.

What about gender reputation?

Some small difference. Females have a little higher reputation (despite their lower earnings)

Average votes per gender

This is quite interesting. I always thought the good looking girls get the votes and money. But apparently this is not the case.

So. I did my number crunching. I am looking forward to discuss with you in the comments what these numbers and charts actually mean.

Thank you for reading. Hope you liked it.

This took its time. - @crypt0mine.
