There has Been a Massive Surge in Steem Powered Up. Would The New Whale(s) Please Stand Up?
There has been a disturbance in the force. According to SteemDB.com the amount of Steem Powered up has nearly doubled. There has been a jump from 5,000,000 to almost 9,000,000 in the Steem supply swap into a powered state at the end of September.
This massive power up comes at the same time as we see a surge in the price of Steem finally ending its continous decline. This price recovery has been rumored to be linked to the news of @furion's SteemQ project which aims to bring peer-to-peer video to Steem's blockchain.
So, does anyone know where all this Steem Power went to? Can anyone identify our new Whale overlords? Was this just existing whales reinvesting? Could this also coincide with @charlieshrem's rise to power as a witness?
No matter who powered up and why this appears to be good for Steemit/Steem someone has decided to put their money where their mouth is and lock-in some substantial wealth for 2 years on the Steem blockchain.
@contentjunkie, appreciate you pointing out this data and look forward to the detailed data you are currently working on.
im no whale but I did get a huge boost in steem power today!
Did you invest or snag a whale vote?
People have been good to me the last couple days. 8D
Yeah your rep is back. You hit a low of 2 rep score right?
Yeah it was a crazy ride. The support of the community got me back up to where I was in a couple days. It blows my mind how much support I have gotten considering how much of an asshole I am. 8D
"considering how much of an asshole I am."
Birds of a feather flock together.
LOL
True that.
People who pay attention should be able to tell here. http://steemwhales.com/ I just don't pay enough attention.
Yeah I started going through that. Then I decided to start writing a blockchain parsing script instead. Shouldn't be more than a few hours before I figure it out.
Keep us posted!
Oh and I saw a post yesterday, from someone who said they invested 30k
Link?
I have been looking for it since I wrote this. Will post when I find it.

I kind of wonder if it's not somewhat a result of the small percentage we now get that goes directly to Steem. From there, what would most people do? I powered up.
We haven't given out that much in awards since the change. There was also the feature to have all of your rewards go to SP but same problem the daily reward pool is not on this magnitude.
sweet! more whales the better ? :D
@hendrikdegrote powered up a lot
He sure did. I'm currently running a script collecting all the power up data for this time period. Once it's in MySQL it'll be really easy to tell who invested.
