Raleigh Steemfest 2018 - Are You In?
Last week I posted about a potential Steemfest in Raleigh during the Cryptolina Conference in June, 2018. I received zero responses. Okay...not quite zero. @artibeus is interested in traveling from out of state and @florio is a friend who I can pressure in person. I have also reached out to one homesteader I know of who is interested. But overall, the response has been a bit disappointing. I know we have to have a vibrant Steemit community in North Carolina. This is our opportunity to get together and talk about our goals, the future of the platform and to share a common interest.
The pot is sweetened
I figured that offering to cover the costs myself would be sweet enough. Also, attendance at Steemfest does not require a ticket to Cryptolina. You can attend Steemfest completely free. I am doing it in conjunction with the conference because we already have meeting space paid for at the conference center. Also, I hope that we are able to draw some new Steemians in during the conference. It is a natural opportunity for growing the platform.
So here is the sweetener: I have spoken to the event organizers. Tickets to Cryptolina (early bird) are running $499. They have agreed to give a Steemit discount to anyone who decides they want to attend the conference in addition to Steemfest Raleigh. We still have to work out the details on what the discount will be, but hopefully it is enough to get some folks out. More importantly, in case I haven't mentioned it...Steemfest is free. You do not have to attend Cryptolina at all to attend Steemfest.
A quick word about Cryptolina. It is one of the oldest Cryptocurrency conferences, with the original dating back to 2013. Among the early participants were @dan Larimer, Adam Draper, Vitalek Butarin, Matthew Roszak and the Honorable Edmund Moy (38th Director of the US Mint). This year will feature a member of Swedish Parliament who is on the board of BTCX, Dan Spuller from the Chamber of Digital Commerce, Jameson Lopp from BitGo and many more. It promises to be an exciting event with up-to-date discussions on the state of crypto with an emphasis on altcoins.
If you are interested in attending, please drop a note in the comments. Again, I will cover food and drinks and arrange the meeting space. This will be our opportunity to discuss the Steemit platform and hopefully recruit some new members. If there are any whales or witnesses interested in attending, please let me know. Your knowledge and experience might help us draw more locals to the event.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could help spread the word about this event with a resteem.

Hope you get more responses!
Awesome. Thank you @Rycharde. It has been slow going. It's pretty bad when you can't give something away free! lol.
Yeah, keep me posted!
thank you for the information @coldsteem is very useful for me
my mother-in-law lives in raleigh (-:
... very up n coming area, with durham, etc
I live near Durham. Very trendy these days. Come on down for the meet up!
Do you think you will make it down?
Actually, maybe we should scale it up a bit, since it is US-focused AND it is in the summer, roughly 6 months removed from Steemfest. Hmm....
It's possible. If you have any ideas, I am all ears (on my mother's side).
Maybe have a small fee and some speakers with an agenda? Maybe we could get Ned Scott to attend. There should be alot to learn about SMT at that time.
That would be pretty awesome. I am not sure about getting Ned to attend because I don't know him. I believe Dan will be speaking at Cryptolina, although I am not sure if he is confirmed yet or not. If he confirms, I thought I would approach him about participating.
im in.
Cool. We have a bit of a list growing now. I will continue to post updates moving forward. If you plan to attend cryptolina, there will be a discount added to the website pretty soon. Not sure exactly when. But the Steem meet up is free. No requirement to attend the other.
Cool Thank you!
