Just a thought..

www.coinoy.com

Could a system be created where digital content is uploaded and distributed amongst miners who provide memory for hosting digital data? the data could only be accessed with a private key? people could sell any digital content online... from movies to php script.. right?

Yeah, various people have been working on stuff like this for a while. Check out Storj and Maidsafe for projects that have talked about distributed fileservers in various forms.

You must have posted this at almost exactly the same time as I found this Patent, apparently filed by Verizon (huge US mobile phone company): https://www.google.com/patents/US9338148

It uses the word "blockchain" a lot, and though I didn't read it in detail, there are various aspects that make it sound like they're actually legitimately talking about blockchain technology.

Yeah i know verizon,

but wow, i guess this looks quite interesting, this was basically what i was talking about.. but i what i means was more in regards with digital currency, using digital currency to unlock the content.. a marketplace for digital products basically
