Steemit Ailment: Steemachondria and How to Avoid It
Steemachondria is an ailment characterized by constant checking (like refreshing the browser or app every second of every minute) of your steemit profile including others in the hopes of seeing progress in terms of rewards, upvotes, followers, etc.

Many members of Steemit, both long-time and new, suffer from such condition and I am not an exception.
Other characteristics of this ailment is checking who’s in the trending category and how much they have earned from the blogs or what have they been writing about to earn such huge rewards.
Here are tell-tale signs you are suffering from steemachondria:
- You check someone’s blog post who wrote a similar piece but earned a thousand times more than what your own blog had. This may develop an unhealthy behavior of jealousy to the other writer and hostility to those who upvoted the other guy’s post. Self-doubt may also set in as to your ability and capability of writing.
- You fear you are not writing and posting quality articles. You will start comparing your writing with others and devaluing your own creation by gauging how your posts earn rewards and how others perform.
- On a bad day, you will have checked your profile status at least 20 times, in a 2-minute period. People who suffer the ailment in high level do not only check their own profiles but check other people’s earnings, reputation levels, and the types and topics of posts that earn huge rewards and start worrying about their own blog performance.
- Constantly checking for progress increases the level of anxiety and makes you more uncomfortable with your own performance. You might try to rationalize that checking your progress is one way of reassuring yourself of your performance. Taking this negatively may only make you think worse of yourself during or after the fact.
- You are actually doing well than you imagine. There will always be lesser or greater person than yourself, according the the poem Desiderata. And if you keep comparing yourself with other, you will become vain and bitter.
Guilty as charged. Is there a pill for this ailment?
if there is, i'd like a box of it, please.... ;-)
Agreed!

May I suggest a bit of "Fl_---_g the dolphin" to bring relief if you are suffering from steemachondria? (just a bad joke)
LOL, you are asking for more trouble, @darthnava ;-)
Thanks, I edited it.
I hope through my upvotev I was able to give some relieve to this new disease. By the way I have now published my next visual help guide on how to sell Steem Dollars.

sometimes, it's a nice surprise to get out for a walk or bite or do some exercise. :-)
i'd take exercise anytime of the day ;-)
It's an advanced mutation of "mail check'...which was prevalent in the early days of AOL 'you have MAIL!'.
There is no cure.
I advise that you drink heavily.
LOL, you got it there abut mail check.
