Moderation and improvement of steemit content. Do we need super highlighting?

in #steemit7 years ago

Hello, Steemians and Steemit Management! Today I am here to know your opinion and offer something.

The popularity of our Steemit family is growing fast and there a lot of new posts releasing every second. Yes, more and more people starting to understand that blockchain technologies will completely change our future.

There are a lot of talented and interesting people here: photographers, artists, musicians, chefs… Yes, their posts are usually so colorful and attract much attention. You don’t need to read almost anything. Such posts… they usually go to trending. And it awesome, It raises my mood and makes my day better.

You don’t need much time to look at it and click upward. When I open my Steemit page, first I check hot or trending…and there are almost no intellectual articles there.

Please let’s not forget about such Steemians as psychologists, writers, philosophers and other people who really spend a lot of time to create good and useful articles. They are also here sitting underground. Usually, the content of such people is very topical and useful. But it just gets lost because:

• People are too lazy to read it

• People don’t have time to read it

• Totally not interesting for bots, who are here just to make some profit

It just gets lost in the sea of information because it never goes to trending

To my mind, this is a big problem. We can lose the major part the Steemit user just because one day these people will get tired of indifference and leave. And these people are mostly intelligent and happy to help other users. It is not fair just to abandon them.

What is the solution? Let`s encourage people who write big articles (no less than 1000 words). Is it possible to give it at least minimum number of votes to let it appear in hot or trending automatically? This is not about money or high rating, this is about making friends and to be heard!

What is your opinion of this situation? Please give you suggestions how to solve this issue.

Length is arbitrary, there are more than enough people ranting without trying to have a cohesive point or proof reading it.

I did propose some solutions in a recent story I published, mostly about how its difficult to really establish a meaningful consistent follower base currently on the platform. It wasn't getting much attention until a currator featured it, which is probably the reality of the situation right now for many. The practical solution for the time being is networking well and establishing at least a handful group of people that will read your posts and at least a few in there that have pretty good influence.

It is daunting though. I've been fortunate that the article I did put a lot of time into got a good response, but it took effort to ensure that it had the best chance of getting that response. If I had just posted it and turned off my computer, I guarantee it wouldn't have gone anywhere.

A big problem is how curator rewards work. You get far less points personal rewards if you upvote something soon after getting published, which encourages an opportunistic mindset rather than genuine interaction.

I'm really unimpressed, but there are people working on making things better, so for now its going to take a lot of extra effort and community engagement to have any traction...and even still, set your expectations low.

Well, steemit is a work in progress, still. 😜
