Shark: Being Genuine and Expressing Gratitude

How many times have you walked past the break room only to find an offering of cookies, donuts or breakfast foods? How many times do you seek out the generous party to personally thank them?

Too often there are assumptions of gratitude. Tacit transactions of socially accepted standards protect us from those who may react badly when identified as either a giver or benefactor. But a sincere thank you will open up opportunities for personal and professional growth. It will differentiate you from the others who hurriedly rush off to their desk to eat their easy-gained kibble.

The challenge for today is to seek out the originator of a kind act you have benefitted from. If not in a professional setting, practice in a personal setting so that you become more comfortable expressing gratitude.

The true mark of a shark is being genuine, and being genuine means getting to know those whose charitable acts impact your life.
