Random: Bedtime Stories - Kolamp the Space Travelling Hermit Crab
This story was made up by my daughter and I after reading most of our Star Wars books...
Once upon a time there was a hermit crab named Kolamp. He was just a normal hermit crab who did normal hermit crab things.
One day, he spent his time finding a new shell to live in as he grew bigger and bigger. He found a shell that looked very shiny and was the deepest color blue that you have ever seen. It looked bluer than the deepest ocean.
Kolamp decided to crawl into his new home, but when he did, he was transported into space. What Kolamp didn't know was that that she'll was actually a spaceship hermit crab shell.
In his new home, he could fly from planet to planet and from star to star. He got to see oceans that were made out of fire and lava (though he didn't think that would be very fun to swim in).
One day has he was flying to all the different places, was so sad because he missed his family and friends. He thought to himself how my going to get home I don't even know where home is.
Just as soon as he had had that thought he was taken back home and he wondered if it was just a dream. But if it was just a dream then how could he explain all of the space rocks that he had brought from his travels?
Kolamp went to go tell his family and his friends about his adventures, but none of them believed him. They all thought that it was only a dream, all except and his grandpa.
Grandpa whispered to Kolamp, "Trust me I believe your story is true." Kolamp looked at his grandpa and said, "How do you know?" Then grandpa showed Kolamp his own collection of space rocks.
His grandpa had flown around in space just like him and it made him so happy to know that there was somebody who had had the same crazy adventures that he had.
Kolamp and his grandpa told lots and lots of stories to each other about their travels in space for a long long time.
The end.
See if you can get that published. Or let her draw it out and read it to other kids.
@jpinka that would be a lot of fun! For now, I am just working with her to be able to tell a story without having to ask "what happened next?" Or "what do you think was there?".
These stories are an exercise in using imagination, critical thinking, and creating good memories.
Tell you what: I will have her illustrate a story and I will post it here on Steemit. Stay tuned!
