My First thoughts of Steemit

Background: I have used Steemit for 24 hours apparently im a minnow. I've done the reddits and the voats & I have some degree of technical experience but no degrees. Im keen on trying this decentralized news platform.

Standard throw in some details and check your inbox. Ok wait for activation... wait new accounts are costing the platform money? No wonder they check the accounts! Oh my account comes with free money! Yay account activated. Ok now how do I change my password to something ill remember... screw it ill use the default. They are really hammering this point about not being able to recover your password. Fine, ill just store it in plain text someplace. Not like anyone wants my account anyway.

##Learning Curve
Lets see what people are saying, oh so upvotes get taken off your account making them less effective as you go. So do flags. Seems people don't like that. Whats my stats, oh cool a bunch of numbers. I got 50c worth of stuff? I can use steem to power up my steem power which gives me more upvote power? Thats totally not exploitable at all! That will come in handy when my posts arn't getting any traction. For now lets earn steem.

Ok, lets introduce myself to people, lets go with a clickbaity title, yup some honest thoughts, 5 tags cool first one category cool and POST. Ooh couple of welcome comments, thats nice. Weird all of them saying "I have upvoted and followed you". Is it a newbie teaching thing? Hmm, couple of interesting ones, lets follow them. I got tips? Am I in the hospitality industry? checks account Oh cool they gave me 0.003 & it comes with messages! @bottymcbotface"Dont forget me when your rich" - Oh so your like an investor? Sorry but i'm likely not a sound investment.

Its going to take a few weeks to really start to wrap my head around the system and its underlying technology, but thus far it seems cool. Little lean on content now but great potential. I look forward to contributing something towards making it better.
