Steemit Is Poised to Rival Kickstarter

in #steemit8 years ago

If you go on Kickstarter today there are so many projects that just can’t be funded despite whether or not they deserve to be, but this is by nature of design. Users on the site who want to back new and interesting things only have so much money to do so, and rely on their own forms to income to contribute.

Steem completely changes this paradigm because now funds can be raised without having to contribute any of your own person money at all. Rather than having to donate your hard earned money, you can just give them an upvote which brings notoriety and put them in a place to earn more than enough to complete their projects.

In addition they don’t have to worry about getting all the money in one go because if they are supplied with a decent start they can update the community every month or so and appeal for more money if sufficient progress is shown. I believe this puts Steemit in a particular position to rival another social media platform which has been huge in the recent years because of the successes it has provided. Kickstarter has come with its fair share of failures as well, but the difference is, by upvoting we aren’t directly donating our own money so it isn’t conceived as that much of a risk.

I think in the near future we will start seeing many more people looking to funded as soon as they realize how the platform works and how easy and fast it can be to acquire funding to complete a project. Keep an eye out for the kickstarter tag , I guarantee its going to be coming.

Nice one. I am having my first STEEM-based crowdfunding campaign here: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@gabi-dumitriu/i-will-launch-steemit-in-air-with-pictures

This is interesting and this will be big if it is true. However the circumstances that Steemit will be kicking out Kickstarter is kinda Bluff. In terms of popularity kickstarter have a heads up. But sooner steemit will dominate if proper measures were taken :-)

They have first mover advantage but they are also a lot harder to qualify for an we have an audience that doesnt need to offer anything other than an upvote.

Good point. I really hope this will be a start of new begging. An empire . A simple business turn into Multi Billion profit.. There's a lot of opportunity here to be honest. So lets wait, for the future is coming really fast :-)

I had not thought about this till now! Great post. It definetly makes you think of all the other possibilities.

Try comparing steemit crowdfunding and TheDAO ;) What you risk here and what you risk there as a backer? :) No brainer.

Well ok then @calaber24p!

I can see this being viable in the future when there are more users with healthier SP.

Yes, Steemit could be a Kickstarter killer since, as you said, "funds can be raised without having to contribute any of your own person money at all" except, for whatever reason, none of the charity/crowdfunding/donation posts that have been posted have garnered much. Eventually, when more users have a bigger stake these posts will gain more, but it just doesn't happen yet.

was talking about this very thing the other day ;) good post

Actually it's possible. There is an Olympian athletic doing crowdfunding here to go to Rio I think and hope he wears a logo of steemit too :)
