I agree with your comment about discord. I think what has happened over time is that discord had become a promotional avenue for people to attempt to draw attention to posts. It can be so incredibly difficult for people to get any traffic on their blog and they are looking for any way to lure in new followers. This has turned into exactly what you said, the discussion is happening on discord rather than on the Steemit platform. Comments are how we build relationships and discussion on Steemit but that is tough to do when that is already happening on discord.
