Steemit new look, still same old errors

Steemit got a new look!

Yeah! Or wait, not so fast!

Many people have experienced problems with Steemit web site for quite a while. When the new look was released hopes were high that maybe the functionality was fixed together with the new look.

Unfortunately it wasn't. Or at least the errors that I am getting and others are getting are not addressed, even if something else did get addressed. It begs a question - was it really that necessary to adjut the look just a tiny bit, although doing a lot of work revisiting most visual aspects just to do a touch up while users are having major issues with the site?

I wonder if it is a sound business strategy or if there is indeed ANY business strategy involved.

Another question that I'd be curious to get an answer to - does anybody who supports the web site actually read and follow people's reports of their struggles with error messages.

I won't even touch those problems of people trying to register and waiting for weeks with no success of simply opening a new account.

Those who are lucky to get an account, along with the long time users, still struggle with basic things:

  • Voting times out
  • Posting times out
  • Posting not saved in drafts some times. People spend time typing a post and then click on SUBMIT and puff, it is  gone! Times out, error shows up and you start all over again. It means that bloggers have to become paranoid and save everything they type before submitting or just lose trust in the platform when their work just disappears.
  •  Transaction Broadcast Error. - Has been happening to me for days? over a week? maybe even weeks, cannot recall exactly but feels like for a while.
  • TypeError: Network Request Failed (I am on 150Mbps connection here!)
  • Duplicate Transaction check failed (even if previous submit attempt failed!)
  • Voting for a witness has errors (I will write about that separately, as promised)
  • Editor has quite some issues

The paradox here is that the site is built on the premise of TRUST and reputation seems to undermine user's trust in this very site.

Posting here for some of us has been not for the faint of heart. I've heard some bloggers swear to quit. I guess the most patient will remain but it would be sure nice if there was somebody who is in charge of the web site development and its back end could listen and maybe PRIORITISE!

Developers (or their bosses) - have some business sense! Does not sound like the best practice to do a make up in a burning house!

Wishing everybody all the best and sorry for a little rant here. Mostly hoping that it could HELP rather than just bitching about it.
