💩 Sex Doesn't Sell 💩
I noticed that many women get upvotes just because of their gender. Some people upvote them because they want to be noticed by an attractive woman, some people upvote because they think that posts by women are likely to attract more women to the site, some people upvote them because they think sex sells and a minority upvote them because they genuinely like the content.
But really, when women see this, they get annoyed. They think the upvotes come from thirsty males and get a bad impression of the site. What kind of users is this sort of content really attracting? Lonely males with little to contribute to the site. They're just here to look at boobs and maybe score a date. Is this really the kind of userbase we want?
So please, stop upvoting women just because they are women. Look at the content they produce, not how they look. It's not good for anyone.

It is a shame that even within the Steemit community, folks are so patriarchal. Upvotes should be based on content but if the users are silly enough to use their power to promote the sexualization of women rather than seeking inclusion, equality and empathy for the gender with the glass ceiling, it is their own sexist faults.
I feel like the response to @halo is a good example of how this community is patrolling itself but also consisting of members that want to see some strange tits and ass. As a free marketplace (with self-policing) this social media experiment may be able to show just how powers accumulate power.

That's a pretty speculative accusation to make! Can anybody here admit to up voting women just because of their gender? The content that I have seen by the women here has actually been good. Granted, there may be guys who will choose to read a females intro before reading a mans, but that is in the nature of the post itself. The future for their popularity will likely depend on their future content.
