@steemcleaners Is Abusing Their Steem Power And Creating A 'Rich-Get-Richer' System On Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

So, over the last night, 3 of my 4 different posts regarding Hexabot, an Automated Trading Platform that uses Affiliate Marketing as a way to raise awareness and drive adoption levels, have been downvoted by @steemcleaners, with the following message:

"While it may not be a scam in your opinion, it could be considered spam. Spam is not appreciated by the community and could be flagged or may result in action from the cheetah bot..

Some things that can be considered spam:

  • Banner ads of any kind
  • Referral links/codes
  • Repeating the same post
  • Links to known scams, phishing sites, and other dangerous links
"

Now, as a result of this downvoting, these posts were hidden due to low ratings. The problems with this behavior are:

  1. There is an ALL-CAPS warning at the top of the page of each of these articles pointing out the factors to consider in investing in an automated trading platform, pointing to the fact that this is an affiliate marketed site, and pointing to the volatility of the crypto market, as well as the necessity for an exit strategy in systems like this.
  2. @steemcleaners, although with 1 negative vote being able to remove 25 or more positive votes, is only able to negate a certain amount of positive voting power. THIS CAUSES A 'RICH-GET-RICHER' scenario, allowing people with more powerful positive voting followers to promote all of their affiliate-marketed content, thus allowing them to continue to pull people into their platforms, which may or may not have merit.
  3. These aren't manual reviews that are occurring, it seems. To do this in an automated fashion may be necessary to some degree due to the large volume of content, but downvoting to the point of hiding an article without more research is ridiculous. At best, the downvote should be equivalent to a percentage of the upvote voting power, to essentially give a negative rating, but not to abuse the power so as to hide less wealthy contributors' content.

For example, a user who has positive upvotes that add up to somewhere around even just $1 or more will never have to worry about @steemcleaners abusive, automated flagging, because of the fact that @steemcleaners' vote doesn't cause enough of a downvote to hide the article. In other words, the votes of less wealthy users don't matter to @steemcleaners, apparently. So, now, with new products like Hexabot which, imho, are better alternatives to Bitconnect because of the fact that you can withdraw at any time, users won't be able to learn about it because of this behavior. I'm generally a very positive person, but abusive voting can't stare me in the face and expect me to back down and act like there isn't an issue with that behavior.

Something needs to change with the 'cheetah bot' (prayers they don't flag this out of malice), whether that be changing the way the downvote percentage allocation is calculated or a search for words like 'warning', to make sure content isn't flagged that is explicitly providing ALL POSSIBLE INFORMATION so that users can make their own decisions regarding new products in the Cryptocurrency realm and can have a chance to profit just like everyone else.

AS ALWAYS, WISHES OF WEALTH AND HEALTH FOR ALL! :)

I agree the only ones hurt and discouraged the most is the minnow without SP. 👌

I don't think the trick is in silencing yourself but, in HOW you promote it.

Thanks for the support my friend! :)

Absolutely! Loving your content my brother!👏

I am Sarah from Algeria and interested in traditional Algerian clothes. I hope you will take care of my special page. Thank you

Welcome to Steemit! :)

As @everittdmickey and I probably both agree, bots need to be shut down and people need to vote for themselves. One would wonder why they targeted you, when hundreds of other people post similar posts about cryptocurrency.

Yeah, I mean, I think there may be some place for bots just because of the 1000s and 1000s and 1000s of articles that are written every day, but they need to be VERY EXPLICITLY defined and in an appropriate way, so that they don't act in an abusive manner, whether unintentionally or not. My thoughts on the matter anyway, but abusive bots should ABSOLUTELY be shut down, I'm with you. :)

Be at miss or each good play home they.

I appreciate the support on this! :)
