Why You Should Be Powering Up Your Account - How It Benefits Everyone

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

The Steem blockchain, which Steemit is built on, is currently one of, if not the most advanced blockchains currently out there. The Steem blockchain is super scalable and super efficient while handling a shitload of transactions. So why wouldn't you want to invest in this amazing technology? The best way you can possibly invest in this technology and help this platform grow is by powering up your account. The process of powering up is by accumulating as much Steem Power as possible.

This platform is still very young and there is only a little over 200 000 accounts on Steemit thus far. There are some speculation that there could possibly be over 600 000 accounts by the end of the year with some extreme speculation of a 1 000 000 accounts by the end of the year. So I think what I'm trying to say is that now is the best time you could invest in the platform since an influx in new users are likely to create an increase in the price of Steem meaning that you can possibly expect a good return on investment in the near future if you do decide to power down at the end.

This is literally you when you power up your account

How It Benefits You

Ultimately when you're powering up your account you're buying a stake in Steem which adds value to your account. If you want to earn more curation rewards then you should definitely be powering up. The more Steem you have the more Steem Power you can get and the more valued your profile becomes the more valuable your upvotes become the more minnows, like myself, will lick your ass for your upvotes on their shitty blog posts(This might be one of those posts). You get the idea.

There are a few ways to acquire more Steem Power but here are two of the most popular ones if you're a minnow like myself and you have some SBD lying around from your introduce yourself post.

  1. Convert your SBD to Steem on the internal market on Steemit itself and power up that Steem to Steem Power

  2. Send your SBD to an exteral exchange site such as Bittrex an Poloniex where you can then trade your SBD for Steem, send the Steem back to your Steemit account and power that Steem up to Steem Power.

Depending on where you can get the best exchange rates for your SBD/STEEM you can either trade your SBD on the internal Steemit market or on the external exchanges.

How It Benefits Me

Through encouraging my followers and fellow Steemians to power up their accounts the more value can be added to my posts if they like and upvote my content since their upvotes will be worth more depending on the amount of Steem Power they have. It's kinda like a win-win situation since no one can lose out by powering up their accounts. You as a potential curator can earn more curation rewards and me as a content creator can get more value out of my posts. The roles can obviously be reversed depending on what your focus on the platform is. Not only does powering up add value to your own personal account but it also adds value to the Steemit platform as well.

One of the best things you can do is to try and convince your followers to power up their accounts since this will not only benefit you as a content creator but also your followers who are upvoting and supporting your content as curators.

Disclaimer: I'm no investment advisor and I obviously don't have any control over what the market might do. I do however have a lot of faith in this platform.

I powered up big time and it feels gooooood! The last week was kind of ugly but i too have a lot of faith in this platform. Also, i like laying down fat upvotes to the peeps i dig...a little too much in fact! I find it hard staying above 80%

I whole heartedly agree with this post. And my money has already been put where my mouth is (as it were). Go Steemit!

Cheers! from @thedamus

Haha thanks for the reply. I'm the same man, enjoy giving out those upvotes lol. I'm still a little low on SP but I'm powering up everything I'm getting.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice!
