You don't want to read 22 pages do ya? Read this in Regular Person Language LOL.

There are a few threads going now for discussion on the issues and changes and today I have a massive headache but this is important to the Steemit Community and Eco System so I wanted to open this up on my page also.

We all have different interests and followers and friends on here so posts about the Roadmap here that contain the links to it, some info and some discussion will all be valuable in spreading the word and content and ideas around.

New Logo and Branding coming:

  • to differentiate the blockchain from other parts of the site/platform

Revamping of Steemit platform Awards and Recognition Milestones, Achievements, etc.

Free Image Hosting coming

  • People have been asking for this en masse for months now - so that images are embedded into the site - doing away with the harder process of simply embedding links and using them offsite as images stored. ( drag-and-drop any image on their computer into any post or comment. )

Mobile Notifications and Updated User / Status Bar.

The official @Steemit Account - Assets de-Centralized:

  • A lot of comments have been made about this one account and what the account could or should be used for with it holding about ~41% or so of the entire Steem currency. It will be gradually diverted and divested into other projects to promote and develop the platform.

Hopefully this will be used to address some of the concerns of the power held by one account and it is nice to see some of the concerns addressed, and move the platform forward

Streamlining Processes to assist New Users and Developers.

  • Gamification, User Onboarding Improvements, and Feature Discoverability to make the signup and new user process and startup easier and remove some of the crypto/blockchain barriers to new users.

The introduction of Communities:

  • A way to diversify content and brand/make/organize some varying content and "communities" which people are used to seeing on other SM sites like Fascistbook/Reddit. Many people have asked for this on discussions here.

My only concern for this is that some people will continue to move away from the GENERAL 1 large community/common space and cluster elsewhere and disappear many users from view. Humans can be like this and online, it is no different.

User Retention rewards, incentives and notifications:

  • Retention of users has been a big problem on the platform for many reasons, most usually the concerns seem to be over the unfair balance of power and thus what and who gets rewarded on the site -- and the complications of the crypto/blockchain processes and feel of the site at times to non-crypto people.

Reward Sharing/Splitting across other sites on the internet:

  • The idea seems to be this will help with collaboration and team based posting. It will also mean big changes for things like profit sharing on new apps being developed.

Steem Login across other SM sites or pages:

  • Like many other sites (think about using your Reddit, Twitter or Facebook login) - it can be used to drive traffic back to the Steemit site and onboard new users and the like.

Fabric Multi Chain System:

  • This could be a big feature to add elements, features and people to one of the most interesting blockchains already in existence and have the other "side" chains working parallel with or behind the scenes together in a redesigned architecture

Optimising the Developer Experience :

  • Through developer.steem.io -- this should help to build and progress Steemit platform as a whole.

Well, that is it, and I did all this with a wicked bad headache that I get at times.

What are your thoughts???

Well, looks like this is not the future!

Not sure if all these changes are good, and not been able to look real close at the map ahead, but at least there is a direction Steem and SteemIt are heading. So, in the end I still need time to look it all over. Thank you for this post, glad someone was able to read the road map!

It will be good to hear your thoughts when you have time.

Well, I just set up a writing challenge, trying to get more people active and already has 1 submission, so looks like it might be working.

I am focussing upon writing a short story - I am thoroughly underwhelmed by the roadmap - until they address the fundamental issue, we all just wait ... and write content which contains originality of thought rather than rehashed recipes for tomato ketchup!

I do have a wicked Cherry Ketchup Recipe for Tempura Battered, Pickled and Smoked Red Onion Rings... Perhaps I should wait. (:

Please continue with your fine recipe, I am sure it is delicious!
I am not sure if you are familiar with the post to which I am referring but it was a gratuitous case of a whale snaring votes for a lamentable shot at a spicy tomato sauce recipe. It had about 130 votes before anyone had had the opportunity to read it.
I use it as my example of whales intravoting to ensure their retention of all the power leverage which they cannot justify!
My sincere apologies ... I shall watch out for your fine cherry preserve!
As I already follow, I can only upvote your comment!
Thank you for your understanding.

Your right there somethings were not addressed all I can say if we stop voting on things they eventually will stop and change but if some people like the idea it will continue.

The hard part though is gaining the votes of those who do matter.

agreed entirely - I have noticed that there are few whale votes today - perhaps to teach the hoi polloi a lesson?

Yep. Agreed. .... and like I just said above, the curation / division of power issues were not addressed.

You make some good points.

Curation issues were not really addressed either.

Thanks for putting this together - especially with a wicked, bad headache. I did read the roadmap, but it's nice to have this as confirmation I understand it.

Feel better quick, eh!

As I always say, the truth is I do not know if all the points will be good for us per si sive to improve and assure the welcome platform is, thank you very much dear friend @barrydutton for sharing this information

Great post thanks for breaking it down ! Im not going to download 22 pages ,lol ! I just dont have the time and im sure there will be many like yourself doing posts on this , i will read the comments their usually quite informative ! Thanks again I hope your headache gets better ! Steem on !👍😊

Thanks Karen, it was nice to hear from you.

Great summary! As already said, the future is really appealing :)

Excellent Barry, this review was more like the language I understand.
I also had the same thought as yourself regarding the "communities".

I like the idea of one large ecosystem rather than separate offshoot areas.
As Steemit is now, I have had the incredible experience of discovering so many new areas of interests that I never would have been able to do on other platforms. And this has only opened my mind to new worlds an inspiration.
As we know, due to algorithms on "Facistbook" lol, everyone is kept inside their own bubble and thus you become trapped in your own specific area of interest. All that does is keep us everyone narrow. This is what concerns me about this new move regarding the "communities".

I am also a little concerned about the idea "Gamification". Well OK I understand the concept of what they mean but for me life in the real world is treated too much like a game as it is. Games have a habit of making us less human. It bring out the fun is us yes, but it also brings out the competitive side too and that side of us is less empathic. SO I hope they dont go overboard on this.

I have no idea what "Fabric Multi Chain System" is about but I think I can live without understanding it.

The image hosting is a huge step forward and was much needed.
Thanks again!
