Churches Using Steemit to Deliver Messages and Collect Tithes as Steem

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Ever since joining Steemit and trying to learn about the world of cryptocurrency, I have been wondering and envisioning how it is going to impact the future. Today, I was thinking about churches and how they could use Steemit to grow, and to generate revenue.
Many Pastors, expecially those of Mega-Churches, have social media pages. Mine in particular, Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church, is very active of Facebook and Instagram. On Sundays, he delivers his sermons online as he is doing them live for those attending one of Elevation Church's campuses. This offers the option for those who are not local to still hear his messages weekly. Many other churches offer this option too. Now, imagine if churches used Steemit and could deliver their massages and reach an audience there as well. But, unlike Facebook or other platforms, generate revenue for the organization as well based on people viewing and following their content.

42 % of churches in the US offer an electronic giving option. Now, instead of members giving, they could view the message and upvote it and the churches can generate revenue and spread their messages at the same time. This could work for other nonprofits as well.
Just my random thoughts. What do you think?

This is an awesome idea. I know a church that is in the midst of a building fund and could use some support.

Thanks! I think they should come create a Steemit account. I think it could really be beneficial to all churches and nonprofits

I will encourage them to do so.

That is a great Idea! I plan to encourage colleagues of mine who have nonprofits to do the same
