Good evening everyone, I am @bait002, the founder of the offline minnow school. Just in case you do not know what the offline minnow school is, it is a place where steemians are mentored and groomed at of offline hub on the campus of the University of Port Harcourt. Today, I am be bringing an update on a project that I and my team have been working on for quite some time and the need that necessitated such project.

THE NEED FOR A STEEMEXCHANGER TO OUR LOCAL CURRENCY

First, someone might ask if it is necessary to embark on a project like this, seeing that there are tons of exchange mediums where anyone could work on and have the same experience this site will be bringing. Well, maybe not the same services exactly.

Here in Nigeria, a third-world country where the whole cryptocurrency thing is this in its infancy. Considering the history and state of our economy, our positioning in terms of technological improvements across the world (such as the trending blockchain technology among developed economies). We, in order to enjoy the benefits of blockchain technology will have to go through several process of conversions with cut-throat fees/charges. A vast majority are often discouraged with these processes and would rather stay clear off the crypto markets. Hence, a need for an exchange medium that makes it possible to bypass these processes.

BULK BUYERS CAME IN

Well at some point, we had a new development which is not entirely safe by personal evaluation. We send some naira to traders here in Nigeria who will in turn send us cryptos or sometimes the opposite (send cryptos and in turn get naira). This led to a big problem, and put a lot of crypto trader in jeopardy that no one would ever want to go into crypto deals any longer. All of these factors birthed the concept of a site powered by STEEM that will facilitate crypto transactions in such a friendly environment. As we engage people in the crypto markets without any technical backgrounds at all.
So a complete novice can transact in the crypto market at the push of few buttons and with just one transaction fees.

STEEM EXCHANGER NIGERIA

Steem exchanger Nigeria is a site that makes it possible for steemians here in Nigeria to interact with the blockchain and get their rewards in real life. Most times I get phone calls and tons of text messages, asking me questions like;

• How to I withdraw my money?
• How do I invest and buy more steem?
• How much is one STEEM/ SBD? And so on.

Well, until this initiative born, I didn’t have a very clear answer that wouldn’t confuse a non-crypto expert. www.steem exchanger.ng basically makes that possible with a fewer clicks, fewer transaction charges and fewer time spent (practically less than 15 minutes).
The site is still in beta, and we are open to suggestions to bring about more improvement. We currently have served over 500 people (steemians) in less than a week. We have also been working tirelessly on feedback, fixing every technical issues and frictions. We also have a support team whose eyes are always on the radar to assist users on the site who might be facing some difficulty.

FEATURES

• A preview of a user’s steemit profile(wallet).
• Direct conversion from SBD to naira with a unique memo that serves as transaction ID.
• Options for adding a local bank account number.
• Withdrawal button that instantly credit a user’s bank account.
• History of previous transactions.
• Quick support system that facilitates resolving issues.
• Exchange rate information in naira.

FUTURE UPDATES

With time we will be integrating more features and the updates we will be bringing will be in order of priority. First, we integrate the option that will enable investors come on the blockchain (POWER-UP) with their naira which they will in turn convert to steem.

This is wonderful to see what we can plug to steem blockchain to help your community.
It will go a long way.
Alot of pics to show how much we can do to help more.

We are glad to have something valuable to integrate to the blockchain. We stand with the vision behind blockchain technology @pouchon and steemit in particular.

This sounds like it will be super helpful!

Are there any money transmitter laws you have to consider like we deal with in the United States? Are you working with lawyers to ensure you won't get in trouble later with the approach you're taking?

Also, you should probably change the logo and color scheme to ensure people don't get it confused with steemit.com. The logos is under copyright so they have to protect it to protect the steemit brand.

There are no actual laws regarding transactions as such here in Nigeria. The site works in such a way that avoids any issues relating authorities. And about the logo, we're currently working on it @lukestokes

Quite obviously, it would be helpful to have this for USD. @bait002, ready to go global?

What a powerful site and initiative running off of our Steemit platform, thanks a lot for sharing this ingenuity with us all! May the force stay with you and us all in this endeavour. It ought to be a GREAT success!

Namaste :)

Thank you @eric-boucher, it's a great pleasure to us put in our best to ensure that the vision benefits everyone. More will be coming from the minnow school crew.

This is awesome, am from Uganda and would love to set up an exchange too.
Is it okay if we get in touch on discord,i use this same name!

That would be great @jaraumoses you can hook up with me on discord or steemit.chat, I use the same name. You may also contact @bennji or @atare

This one of the best initiatives I've seen in the Nigerian community. Thanks @@@bait002 and team

Thank you @meemee for the words. We're pleased to see that steemians benefit from what we offer

This is pretty amazing!

Thank you 😃!

I think the future of crypto is bright one. Thanks for sharing this. It looks like it has the potential to help alot of people.

It is surely a bright one indeed. All we need to do is keep the fire burning.

The users from Nigeria will surely be benefited from it , no doubt. Great job for the local community and great job for the steemit.
