A question for Ned
Oddly enough @Ned is still on my follower list and somehow I haven't even followed him back, maybe because people already resteem almost everything he says but still I'd like to see what he resteems.
@Meno wrote a post earlier today about being passionate while making arguments. I probably am considered among the most passionate on here even though I hardly see myself in that light, more like brash or blunt but anyway.
Some context for now for those who haven't read it: yes that's a hatchet in my teeth, and yes, my screename ought to be insulting to most, and yet oddly enough one of the first followers I've had was @ned. Maybe he was drunk, or maybe he was keen on keeping an eye on the misfits and wanted to make sure I'm not just some troll, but however it happened he chose to follow me. Back when Steem was less than a year old, people would regularly catch both him and Dan making comments and engaging on others posts, besides resteeming and curating. It was a promising time and it was during that time that the shortcomings of the curation system came to be more and more evident with the last update to it adding the "disagreement over rewards" on the list as a reason for a valid flag. During that time, Dan made a comment saying that a new system was being worked on:
@Meno concluded his article with a very choice question and food for thought indeed!
He asked what and how would you talk to Ned if you had 30 minutes of his time. In Ned's defense, a long time ago, after Dan had departed, he had a very good Ask Me Anything thread and he diligently went through hundreds of questions, including yours truly, to which he answered that he wasn't sure why he followed me and left an encouraging remark of keeping up the good work. Now, if I could go back, I'd have asked him another question.
At the time I hadn't any idea of the comment Dan made as maybe not even a month after he made the comment I wrote a suggestion post for a flagging system apart from curation which to this day I'm still left to conclude that it has no visible chinks or shortcomings and could be quite a change of pace for those that abuse the system and had I known that something similar was even considered let alone "worked on" it would have motivated me to continue writing about it in efforts to get others who have stake to consider it.
@Ned, if this makes it on your feed and you happen to read it, as I've said in Meno's post what happened with that system which Dan said you guys, Steemit, were working on?
FYI, this is the "treatsie" I wrote on the problem of our current system https://steemit.com/community/@baah/a-solution-to-the-downvoting-flagging-problems-on-steemit
