STEEMIT: Gotta Spend Money to Make Money

Let's all agree on something, here: You have to spend money in order to make money here. Otherwise you're just collecting dust until you can sustain yourself with votes.

I log on today and see this on the front page:

Not sure how many people really understand what this post is, but let me tell you: It's a guy trying to make money doing what almost anyone else can do.

And if you think that this advertisement rose organically to the top, think again. He rose this to the top via upvote bots.

I said it before and I'll say it again: If you want to be successful on Steemit, recognize it for what it is -- a game where the more players take advantage of the system, the harder it will be for everyone else. The wealth inequality here unfortunately correlates to recognition inequality: Those that make the most money, get the most views. You almost cannot compete unless you churn out tens or hundreds of dollars to votebot services.

Anyways, let's continue scrolling down the front page:

$200 bucks from "smartsteem"? Isn't that the organization promoting STEM education? Oh wait no, it's just another vote bot.

Let's take a look at one more before I gag at how garbage this system is.

The STILL Existent Problems with STEEMIT that make it UNSUITABLE for mainstream adoption:

• The pyramid scheme vibe and cult following: Why is a system that clearly promotes wealth inequality being advertised to people in Venezuela and Africa?
• The content deletion: Old and unpopular videos/music/content on the IPFS system are deleted. If you don't have a large audience watching your content regularly, you'll be shoved off the map.
• Vote bots: Those that have a lot of money, make a lot of money with votebots. They don't need your 0.01 cent votes.
• Garbage search system: How else can you find users without viewing them one by one out of the comments section? How can you find NEW posts?
