Blogging made easy. a helpers guide to people who need to know the little things on steemit to get along way.
I have been helping a few fellow steemians with there blogs on steemit and I thought that if I was to make a blog post to help others it would be easier just to copy the link in there comments when they struggle on here.
I want to make it clear that I am no expert on steemit as it is new to me too but I have a few ideas
Use a catchy title
I find it easier to write my blog first to get an idea of what I am going to put as my header title. as the words flow in my blogs sometimes the whole feel changes by the time I finish writing. so I would say to create your header title after you have written your article.
Plan what your blog is going to say before you write it
I always have an idea before I start writing on steemit, I draft it first before blogging this helps me when I rewrite it to make it sound better by adding one or two more words or removing them. I am not the best writer in the world, in fact, I struggle to do blogs as I have dyslexia and I use Grammarly to help me spell check and add comers.
Grammarly is free to use and is an add-on you can use in google chrome check it out, it might help you too.
Add pictures
Adding pictures to your blog is the way to catch someone's attention, without pictures people skim past things you have written and your work gets no upvotes and this is not what you want.
I don't know how many pictures you can upload but I have seen blog posts with more than 6 on it so it's up to you how many you use.
Make sure the picture is relevant to the post you have written. - don't go posting a picture of a cat if you have blogged about a table. make your blog flow.
There are free image sites to use such as pixabay.com which lets you choose an image to use, you can copy and paste the image or save them to your hard drive and add them by using the selecting them link at the bottom of the steemit editor.
Don't copy and paste
This makes me chuckle as I believe this to be the key to steemit. steemians who spend a lot of time on here and make the big bucks make their own content from start to finish, they write their blog and add their own photos and these blogs stand out a mile. The effort and energy put into their post pays as they have not copy and pasted anyone else's work.
Write about something you are passionate about and keep doing regular posts about it.
Make your blog interesting
regardless of who reads your post, if it's 1 or a 1000 people it needs to be interesting if you keep that 1 loyal reader coming back for more that is one more follower than you started off with. it will soon catch on and you will find more people reading a post going to your page and reading more of your earlier work. This will inspire them to follow to see what you write next.
Use tags
Tags are a new thing to me and I still find that I put the wrong tags on some posts I write but in all fairness, you need to tag otherwise there is no exposure to your post, tag advantage and use up to 5 tags in your post.
Follow other users
This is my one of my top ten things I like to do, I don't just follow people for the sake of following them, I have to find what they have put interesting. I started out on steemit by following people who just put in the comments follow me, I have seen some of the crap they post and I soon unfollowed them.
Comments and Replies
When someone comments on your post and it means something to that post, reply back. even give the comment an upvote it helps steemit and fellow steemains post more content. reply to replies this I have found I have made relationships with these people and they talk to me.
upvoting
Upvote when you think something is good to be upvoted, don't just waste your votes, you can find your voting power by popping onto steemstats this will give you a good idea.
I hope this helps some of you newbies to understand a little bit about steemit. most of what I have written you can find in the FAQ in the 3 bars above next to your profile picture.
Any questions ask, there are people on here like my self who are willing to help.
Drew
