To me it is kinda true. When I was hanging out witny friends in the old days, we have to no phones and will have non stop talkinng about everything . But today, we still talk but more of the gathering time has been used to answering emails, wtsapp, or surfing the web with the phone.

I get the point here. However, I do personally believe technology to a certain degree have some of negative impact on social and human interactions.
guess it is human nature to want to try and look like we are busy or self important
