Steemit vs. BitShares

in #steemit8 years ago

If i look how fast Steemit is growing and advancing, i feel really bad for the BitShares Community who was left behind.

Internal markets on bitAssets were today only 8000 USD with 9 assets http://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/bitshares-asset-exchange/, the internal market for Steem Dollar had over 1.200.000 USD on volumen http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/steem/#markets .

They lost most of their Devs to STEEM in a blink and are stuggling now. I think at the moment the ideas who led to BitShares are dead, gone with the Brain of all.

I sold most of my BitShares and considering to invest in STEEM, do you think this would be a better choice?

My personal view which is biased since I am a long term hodler of bts and want it to succeed is that bts is way undervalued and hence a better investment at this price.

On the other side steem is in a very bullish trend and no one knows when this will / if end. Steem may be worth billions one day.

However based on my fundamentals Steem and bitshares serve different things. Steem is for bloggers and bitshares is for traders and savers. Obviously blogging is easier and many people are attracted to steem. Steem may one day worth billions but bitshares may one day attract just a small portion of financial derivatives and worth trillions..It all depends on the investment time horizon.
Many people also forget that there are a lot of unbanked people there who need decentralized market pegged assets that bitshares offers. Many people also live in countries with capital controls. They are not anymore in charge of their financials and their life savings are threatened by bad Government and Banks decisions. Bitshares can serve those people today. Not tomorrow.Today!

Steem has also the potential for stable bitassets such as the Steemdollar. But this peg has to be proven before people convert their life savings in steem dollars. Don't forget that steem dollars have so far ranged between $0.7 - $1.7 (I think)..Bitusd on the other hand is holding the peg of at least $1 for more than 2 years now. So from my perspective I feel safer to hold bitassets in bitshares than steemdollars.

Trading wise steem just had a huge rise within a very short period. A correction may come soon. Bitshares has been on free fall from a long time ago.I feel that the odds of x10 the current price between steem and bts is in favor of bts..

Just my view. Don't take it as an expert's advice. After all I have been losing my money for holding bts for the last two years...:)

i think a relaunch would be good with the focus on bitAssets and the blockchain needs to provide the liquidity or marketmakers like in Steem.

Bitshares will have its day in the sun. They ran into funding problems and decentralized too quickly, which stalled progress. Now the core devs are flush and I would expect to see some interesting things later this summer.

Ah, summer announcements..

Part of the #bitshares lore, no doubt.

You need to consider Peertracks, BlockPay and PeerPlays. If you don't think they'll go anywhere then leave Bitshares. You may want to consider the DAO had a high opinion of peerplays though. Your choice.

Bitshares community seems active on it's own. I think Dan focusing on other projects was good for Bitshares and I make my point by saying the gears are still turning.

Listen to the BeyondBitshares. You'll hear about PeerPlays, Peertracks, and BlockPay that just went live. Look at like worker proposals on the BTS ecosystem with workers like @chris4210 for website re-designs.

There's a lot of fud out there (and hype for that matter). But I don't think BTS is dead just yet. ;)

o really?

Does BitShares have a purpose at the moment?

I hope you are joking when you ask about bitshares purpose at the moment when bitshares has a valuable product working for such a long time!
I am curious on your update regarding the purpose and value of MUSE. Or have you completely abandoned your project and scammed the whole bitshares community? I can't believe that you even dare asking what is the purpose of bitshares at the moment when you haven't updated the community about the progress of Muse!

with the focus on UIA's i suppose NO!

Some of the Steem will spill back over to Bitshares. The Bitshares community decided that the rate of innovation was too fast, they wanted to slow it down so the platform could become more stable. The Devs wanted to continue so Steemit was born. They have not fully abandoned it. Alot tof the things that ae working here will trickle back in Bitshares. It was a matter of timing for Devs, should they fight the community and miss the opportunity window for something like this or jump on it and use it to improve Bitshares down the road.

Bitshares still definitely has it's place... it's a much more flexible platform than steem. Out of all the coins that allow user-created assets and a decentralized exchange (NXT, waves) it's by far the best IMO.

Coinmarketcap is not reporting all activity on the DEX.
for example I see that over 300k BTS were traded on the BTS/bitUSD pair, but coinmarketcap shown no activity at all.

from which source do they take the numbers? cryptofresh?

Cryptofresh api is updated hourly. This might be the case.

i like this steemit, go to facai
