Hi steemians, I decided to make a post about whales today because I couldn’t dedicate about 1 hour to explain it to the small class I was taking yesterday We stopped at listing the whales they knew. I had to make this post because I know, a person might dig up this post some years later and might find it useful.
Every day your followers increase daily, a new follower will look forward to every new post you make. The might even go back to your previous post and read it up. You see! This person may not be the only one, there maybe many of them. On the long run, you might get a surprise visit from a whale one day.

Who is a whale?

A whale is a person who has a lot of money to trade and can influence the price of a cryptocurrency. Whales attempt to sway prices towards their preferred direction and usually succeed in the short-term.

The term “whale” is frequently used to describe the big money Bitcoin players that show their hand in the Bitcoin market. The ocean as a metaphor for the market is apt since one can then extend it to include the big fish and the small fish; sharks; rallies as feeding frenzies; waves as market moves; and so forth. refrence

If you been in the crypto world for a while, I am sure you would have heard of the term "Whale". The whale is the biggest creature in the ocean and for the most part, can overpower just about any other fish, so in crypto, we refer to people or groups that have a large percent of a coins volume a whale.

Steemit blockchain surprisingly would attract whales because of so many reasons e.g. Transaction speed, efficiency, transaction fee etc. Whales are large investors.

Do you know that every steemian is a whale in the making?

Every steemit account takes 3-7 days to create, this creation is taken seriously, and when the account is finally created, you will notice that a new steemian on the blockchain has a reputation of 25 with some steem power allocated to help him/her have a worthwhile stay on the steem blockchain.

EQUALITY IS A MISNOMER. The parable of the talent teaches us that we are all don’t possess the same the same talents’ am sure, it won’t take you long to notice that every person that upvotes for your work or curates your work has a certain curation reward which may range from a certain steem dollars to infinity. The most important part of this illustration is this “steemit gives each steemian according to his ability”, steemit understood that the 14sp steemian was not capable of giving returns like the 100sp steemian. Naturally, we will want to protest this as unfair, yet deep inside us, we know this is true from our own experiences on steemit. But even though we were not created equal in regards to the daily steem points, there is equality found in the parable of the talent. Steemit dishes out our reward as our participation and efforts in the community.

After about 45 days on steemit, I came to understand the names allocated to the different reputations. Please pay attention to the steem power and not the reputation because some reputation could be deceiving lol.

MINNOW GROUP (CRITERIA)

Minnows are small freshwater fishes.
Steem Power (below 30 - 49)
Reputation (25 - 35)

DOLPHINS GROUP (CRITERIA)

Dolphins are small gregarious toothed whale which typically has a beak-like snout and a curved fin on the back. They are known for their sociable nature and high intelligence
Steem Power (50-200)
Reputation (35 - 44)

ORCA GROUP(CRITERIA)

Another term for killer whale- A killer whale is a large toothed whale with distinctive black and white markings and a prominent dorsal fin. It lives in groups and hunts fishes, seals, and penguins cooperatively.

Reputation (above 44 - 55)

MINI-WHALES GROUP (CRITERIA)

They are not often sighted at sea. Info gotten about their activities cannot be verified

Surprised at the criteria? Do you also know that there are different types of whales? E.g. #orca-whale, #Blue-whale, #hunchback, #killer-whale, #sperm-whale, #fin-whale etc.

I would use a blue-whale for the purpose of this post for illustrations.

Coloring and Appearance
Blue whales look true blue underwater, but on the surface, their coloring is more a mottled blue-gray.

Have you ever spotted a whale on your post? If you have, lucky you got a kiss from it. Try and summon it next time with its favorite krill lol. Just be careful so that you don’t get bitten while trying this rough play.

Vocalization and Behavior
Blue whales live in all the world's oceans occasionally swimming in small groups but usually alone or in pairs. They often spend summers feeding in polar waters and undertake lengthy migrations towards the Equator as winter arrives.

As a baby whale, I don’t think it’s advisable to hear groans or moans on your post and don’t get scared for your dear life. Some whales would warn you first by leaving a nice comment before they bite you lol.

Blue Whale Calves
Calves enter the world already ranking among the planet's largest creatures. After about a year inside its mother's womb, a baby blue whale emerges weighing up to 3 tons and stretching to 25 feet. It gorges on nothing but mother's milk and gains about 200 pounds every day for its first year.refrence

Who noticed the 25 feet in that? Let me rephrase it this way. “After about 3-7 days in the mother’s womb (steemit), a baby blue whale emerges, with a steem power of 15 vests and a reputation of 25. It gorges on nothing but upvotes and comments and increases in reputation for the first thirty days of its life on steemit depending on its activities.

Longevity
Blue whales are among Earth's longest-lived animals. Scientists have discovered that by counting the layers of a deceased whale's waxlike earplugs, they can get a close estimate of the animal's age. The oldest blue whale found using this method was determined to be around 110 years old. Average lifespan is estimated at around 80 to 90 years.

I am yet to site a whale with 80 Reputation on steemit, this I think is because mama steemit had its first issue 3 years ago. Blue whales have few predators but are known to fall victim to attacks by sharks and killer whales, and many are injured or die each year from impacts with large ships.

Do you know that by pumping in say, 50,000 BTC, over the course of a week you can become a whale?
You will then begin to have people stalking your DM and disturbing your dear peace. No wonder these “killer whales “don’t have mercy when they are vexed.

Whales are like you and I trying to do the best but are held down by the masses seeking their attention, power, and recognition for their posts. You are a "whale inside" if you only believe.
