new on steemit

this is kind of an experiment. i'm writing a paper in philosophie about the advantages of a dezentralised social media platform like steemit and so i have to try it out myself first.
My thesis is preety bold, claiming that a platform like this is a digital revoultion, cause its the first truly democratic social media tool.
now i'm going to find out why and if so, why isn't everybody using it?
