Bitshares is an alternate coin that has the same decentralized technology as Bitcoin and its marketcap has reached 165 billion Rupiah (as of July 2016). Bitshares, with its currency known as BitAssets, offers a new way to store user-owned assets, whether gold, Bitcoin, US Dollar, Euro or Chinese Yuan in digital form. Like Bitcoin, as long as users have smartphones and internet connection, they can transact using Bitshares network.

DASH

DASH, formerly known as Darkcoin, is a form of altcoin which is included in the top 10 digital currency rankings with the largest market cap in the world. Cryptocurrency created by Evan Duffield and Kyle Haga in early January 2014 offers a higher level of privacy than Bitcoin in the presence of a new decentralized network called Masternodes. DASH features DarkSend that combines every transaction with two other transactions in public ledger so it becomes very difficult to trace. The DarkSend feature can be disabled if the user does not want it.

DOGECOIN

Dogecoin is a coin that originated from a mere joke, but now appears as one of the most popular cryptocurrency in the world. Icon and Doge name taken from a meme joke found on the internet about a Shiba Inu dog. Its popularity inspires Dogecoin to be launched in 2013 and now the coin is already being traded on various exchange in the world. The value of Dogecoin is much smaller than Bitcoin and the process of transfer between wallets runs faster when compared with Bitcoin.

ETHEREUM

For the sake of returning 12 million ETH which is drained away from DAO by hackers due to protocol insecurity, Ethereum does hard fork. Although successful, the Ethesum network's hard fork debate leads to the Splitting event where the Ethereum network is divided into two, ETH (Ethereum) and ETC (Ethereum Classic) developed to maintain the Ethereum network to remain the same as when a hard fork case has not occurred. Anyone who has an ETH when a hard fork happens, then he or she will also have an ETC of the same amount.

LITECOIN

Litecoin is a cryptocurrency which is a simplified version of Bitcoin as the name implies. Currently, Litecoin belongs to the top five most popular cryptocurrency in the world. Litecoin has a shorter inter-block spacing of only 2.5 minutes (Bitcoin: 10 minutes), which means the level of transaction ability goes faster than Bitcoin. The use of algorithm is different where Litecoin uses scrypt, while Bitcoin uses SHA2.

Like Bitcoin, NXT has decentralized technology that enables its users to send money anywhere with ease and quickly, without spending a lot of money. Unlike Bitcoin, NXT has a unique platform where users can build their own applications on Blockchain NXT technology. To do so, users only need to download and install the software only.

NEM

NEM was initiated by a Talk Bitcoin forum user called UtopianFuture inspired by Nxt. The original plan for NEM was to create NXT forks, but this was eventually dismissed to support an entirely new codebase. Starting January 19, 2014, an open call for participation begins in the Bitcointalk forum. The purpose of the call is to create a community-oriented crypto- curency from the bottom up. The NEM project was not a legal entity at the time, despite recent attempts to change this. NEM bets are shared with those who contributed to the project in the amount of 2.25 million XEM. As the project grows, people can redeem the bet they pay. Since NEM is not a legal entity, there is uncertainty if the people who run the redemption will leave. As a result, an 8 month deadline has been created. All unclaimed funds are decided to be ruled out for NEM development.

The Alpha version was released on June 25, 2014. Furthermore, the Beta production version was launched on October 20, 2014. NEM launched its first stable release version on March 31, 2015. The next major update to the NEM ecosystem will be called Catapult and has an unknown launch date This Initially expected to be released in Q4 2016, but has since moved into the future with the date of the 2017 announcement.

RIPPLE

Ripple is the name Cryptocurrency who is now in third position in the level of popularity after Bitcoin and Ethereum. Ripple came up with a very different system from Bitcoin. Ripple is actually a kind of internet protocol, as HTPP and TCP / IP are used to manage websites and data, but are designed specifically for sending and receiving payments. Not only serves as an e-currency, Ripple also has a function as an exchanger to currency and other e-currency and payment gateway.
