A true Mortal Team Kombat of developers

Source

Undoubtedly one of the most controversial games in history at the time of its release, Mortal Kombat it has become a stamp in the fighting genre in video games, presenting a plot, a huge amount of violence and developed with digitized sprites based on real actors, has accomplished that it became a bestseller and remains as one of the most popular video games in history.

But you knew? this classic video game was developed by only 4 programmers, led by Ed Boon and John Tobias in 1991 the company Midway gives the task to these two developers to create a fighting game as a competition for the Street Fighter II after an exhausting 10 months of work and with development team initially consisted of four people, Tobias and Boon plus John Vogel as programmer and artists respectively, to then join the team, Dan Forden as sound designer.

The team manages to carry out the job and launch the game in 1992 with some very innovative concepts such as fatalities and a huge amount of violence and gore scenes, In addition another curious fact is that the game was inspired by that time movie star and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme, JCVD couldn't fulfill the project, but some of the characters in the franchise had a Van Damme as a source of inspiration, known as Johnny Cage. I don't but I find funny that Van Damme would have the role of Colonel Guile one of the main characters of the franchise of Street Fighter.
