DIsappointed at Steemit

Steemit was supposed to be a community of vetted posters. Hell, I waited a couple of weeks for my application to be accepted. But it seems all I do here is click ‘mute’, ‘mute’, ‘mute’, as almost all posts I see are off topic, plagiarism, spam or other forms of garbage. And meanwhile, those posts even get upvoted by bots. I don’t get it why any reader should conside Steemit more useful than a moderated web forum, where shitposts are removed, or mainstream social media, where excrement just fades away as no one ‘likes’ or ‘shares’ it. Thoughts? Is it just that adding a blockchain makes anything cool nowadays?
