On steemit we have the right to vote, to show interest in a post and give it some value but this act is also regulated.

From Steemit FAQs: Voting power is like an "energy bar" in a computer game that goes down a little bit every time you vote. You start out with 100% voting power. Every time you vote, you will use a small amount of your voting power.

Whenever you make an upvote, you lose 2% of your voting power. So it takes 50 upvotes to totally deplete your voting power but only 20% is recovered in 24hrs.

That means 0.8333 % is recovered in an hour.

• And would recover fully from a single upvote (2% power deletion in 2.4 hours)

So assuming you make 10 upvotes in the morning, around 8 am, your power drops from 100 to 80 percent. By 8pm (12 hrs), your power rises back to 90%.

But if we deplete all our power 100 by upvoting 50 post instantly, it would take 120 hrs (5 days) to recover fully.

To give effective votes

New users can only upvote and downvote with 100% voting strength.

Some suggest, you wait for 2.4 hours to make next upvote

Downvotes also use the same amount of power as upvotes

NB: If your vote is worth $0.10 at 100%, it's value would be $0.05 at 50% power for an upvote.

As minnows your 100% vote will be worth about $0.01 at best for now...the higher you get in reputation and Steem Power rewards, the higher it gets and also, the percentage slider is activated (at about 500SP)

Lastly, you can increase your voting power by leasing SP from minnow boaster but this would be address in another post
