***STEEMIT*** Branding and consistency, the next steps in building your Steemit account

Stepping up
I've been on this platform for more than half a year! Which means, Steemit has become part of my life now. And I really do enjoy the time I spend here. But over the last few weeks I've been considering that there's probably more I can do to increase the fun I'm having, by taking my account to the next level. And there are two things which I'm pretty sure will help do that: branding and consistency. In the upcoming weeks, I'm going to put some effort into both. And I'll make it a journey for you to follow along. I'll reflect on the changes I make and the results they give me, and hopefully that will be useful to you too!
Opening up
So this is the first post in a series, where I take you along in the steps I make to increase the quality of my account, and hopefully reach out to more people on the platform. It will be ABOUT branding and consistency, but of course I'll also try to apply what I'm suggesting in my posts from now on.
The first thing I want to try is sharing with all of you what you can expect from me and my posts, what my style is and the type of content I love to create.
Style
You know how some people are amazing at doing research, and then put together what they've learned in such an objective and convincing way? And they really make it seem like it's not them talking, but the truth? I've tried that. It always comes out a bit stupid. The factual approach just doesn't really work for me, plus it tires me out. On the other hand, what I really love to do and what others (you guys) seem to appreciate, is sharing my experiences and what I take away from them.

If you want to know more about branding and consistency, then don't turn to me for statistics. There are other people who are great with those. I'll give you what I learn along the way.
Do it yourself
Another aspect to my style is I love doing things myself. Even when I'm not a pro. I make my own body-care products, ferment my own vegetables. I've built my own home, and decorated it. I know I'm an amateur, but still I take out my camera and wander around my neighbourhood to capture snowy landscapes or the bridges around my tiny island.
What all these posts have in common is that I share my perspective, my experience. Not because I'm a professional at it, per se. But because I believe all of us are capable of so much, and sometimes it's fun to see how someone just like you goes about trying something different.
There will be people who are experts in food, in photography, in health or Steemit matters or construction work or sports. I'm not an expert, but I am an explorer. And I like showing you how I made things possible in my life, for you to maybe find some courage and make them possible in your life too!
The questions to ask yourself
If you are reading this post, you are probably considering to step up your game here on Steemit too. Maybe even thinking of how to increase your consistency and how to work on your branding. So here are some questions to take in mind, when it comes to branding your writing style:
- What would you say is typical of the way you write your posts? What captures your style? Do you prefer facts or stories, details or rough sketches, complicated sentences or catchy phrases? Think of how you enjoy to write, but of what you prefer to read also.
- How do you see yourself as a writer? What is your role? Storyteller or scientist? Expert or adventurer? Are you a part of your stories, or just the narrator?
- What do you want people to take away from your posts? How should they benefit, how should it make them feel?
- What do you want to convey to your audience about your style? How will you share with them what you love to create, so that they will know what to expect from you?
Transparency
At the beginning of this post, I said I would be sharing with you what steps I take to increase the quality of my Steemit account, by working at the consistency and branding of my blog. And also, that I'd let you know about the results. Since October 2017, I've written 44 posts (that means 1 post per 4,5 days), receiving an average of 34 upvotes. I have 669 followers, following 99. Those are the numbers right now, let's see what the series of posts and changes to my blog will do to them.
Thank you for reading and already looking forward to writing the next topic in this series. Having these ideas on how to improve and sharing them is actually a lot of fun! Please let me know how this post was helpful or not, share your feedback and I'll definitely be glad to think along with any questions you have. See you in the next post!
A really great blog, especially for newbies! Well done you!
Thanks a lot!!
Sounds good @amritadeva. It's important to build a brand and be consistent so that people know what to expect from you. When topics are all over the place, it is hard to develop a solid follower base because everyone likes something different about your posts and that can affect how engaging your content is.
I'm more of an explorer I guess. Most of my content is for China so that is what people will know me for and I like to share my experiences.
Good luck! Steem is getting better and better.
Yes, exactly. Narrowing down on topics is kind of difficult though ;). I think I've been a bit 'all over the place' till now. But I think that branding and having a consistent style will help in giving people a feeling of what they can expect, too. Still, I'll need to narrow those topics down, lol.
Yeah I love how your posts have a very natural common theme, about life in China. And your blog is really taking off now! You've definitely improved your style and quality and getting a lot of result for it. Awesome, big congratulations!! I always enjoy reading your stories :)
Thank you! I really appreciate your interest in what I have to post. That feeling is mutual :)
All your plans sound great and I believe will reward you in the end, people love to know what they can expect from your blog AND it’s easier to connect with communities that match your content :-) Good luck!
True! Thanks so much for all the support! :)
