Report User Function...Just an Idea!!

in #steemit8 years ago

Hi Steemians, I have noticed quite a few Flagged posts and have also noticed some with a large number of flags. This to my knowledge is a way to Downvote the post, but does it actually penalize the Author if it is a post that gets a lot of attention. Some people use crude Humor or even partial nudity to arouse interest and in turn make a bunch of money off of stuff that would be otherwise banned from other sites. I know we have some great Techs on here and I was wondering if a Report User function would be a good idea. Maybe allow them to be reported a certain number of times before they get a time set Ban and if they continue, they can be kicked off the site.

In order to make this a Community that will be great, we need to make sure the content being portrayed is of good quality and not Smut. To truly reach out to the masses and have growth potential, I think some sort of regulations or that there of needs to be applied. So you Brilliant Techs what do you think can it be done and Steemit Admin is this a possible add on in the future.

Help keep Steemit Clean and Original!!!

This post s aimed at you Techs (You are our only hope) <---Star Wars reference (Yes i'm a Star Wars Girl, LOL)

Flagging should be for post that will hurt steemit image and stability ,please do not abuse the flag option

Exactly, I think people have just gotten frustrated with not going anywhere and some of the flagging is just out of spite. A new system making them explain what is wrong with the post or publisher would make it a little harder to hurt someones rep. and would make them have to justify their actions. Thanks for the reply. :)

I don't think people should flag content they find illegal unless it is illegal content. Reddit has gone down the road that has it's admins actively deleting, banning and even changing their algorithm to disrupt content they have a problem with for various political or social reasons. Steemit content needs to live or die by the user up-votes and the community should concentrate on flagging only spam, plagiarism and illegal content.

Agreed, but I think once a post gets a legitimate number of flags, more should be done. I understand the chance that people would take advantage of that, but I think a system of some sort should be done anything would help. Thanks for the reply. :)

Good job!

That would require giving power to someone to censor people and posts. Crude humor and partial or full nudity is not illegal or worthy or censorship, and it is definitely not worth a full time position.

Just flag it and block the user. Then you don't see offensive posts from that user anymore.

What could completely solve your problem of seeing things you don't want to see, is blocking Tags.
If you could block all posts tagged #nsfw or #crudehumor, you could make entire topics that offend you disappear. Then your personal choices about what to be offended by, don't affect the free speech or enjoyment of anyone else using the site.

Hi! This post has a Flesch-Kincaid grade level of 8.9 and reading ease of 76%. This puts the writing level on par with Leo Tolstoy and David Foster Wallace.
