What I'd like to see from people posting youtube videos on Steemit

in #steemit8 years ago

There are quite a few posters uploading videos in their blog entries. Now there's nothing wrong with that, but when it involves a long video I'd like to see some description, a summary, some bullet points, or an index of topics.

It'll help in terms of having a fuller content, it will help readers to see whether they are interested in viewing the video and it will also help curators who, some times, can't spend 10-20-30-50 minutes on a video - because they must also evaluate other entries, or videos. The curator may also feel you put the extra effort in in creating that summary and be more "generous" with his/her upvote.

Some will say "hey man, it's easier if I just make a speech - you know? If youtubing was about writing the content down, then what's the point?" - which I understand completely. A few highlights wouldn't hurt though.

Now if you have a small video, there's not the same need for summary obviously - just remember to write the duration - like "only 30 seconds" or "only 1m 10s long"... It can increase viewership and the reader will appreciate it too.

Absolutely. Plus, they should explicitly state whether or not the video is their own!

I agree! This is great especially for people who can't always play the audio of a video or would just prefer to read the important bits!

Can you share an example of an offending post you came across?

It's more of a wish rather than "reporting offenders" :P

I hear you, I was just hoping for an example to make what you are talking about more clear.

Someone makes an article, posts the video inside the article, and you must either click play or not, to understand what is in the video.

It would be better if you had a description / bullets / summary of what the video says, within the article.
