The Steemit Wave Theory

Once upon a time, upright mammals on the planet Earth developed the first block chain Social Media project. They dubbed it Steemit, and it was good. At first, the users' focus was on huge payouts that the most new Steemians were fighting for. With their undersized harpoons, very few Steemians were able to sway the whales of Steemit, who each had the power to turn any blogger's post into pure gold. Occasionally, a newly created blog would catch a whale right between the eyes.

Long term users were coming in at a steady rate, but this was greatly overshadowed by short term (get-rich-quick) users. As many of these fair weather fans came and left, the remaining users grew concerned of the departures. Some Steemians became worried that the new world they discovered was vanishing before their very eyes.

Eventually, the initial wave crashed against the rocky shores (the uncharted territory of SteemLand). This did not mark the end of Steemit. A second wave was about to immerge as algorithms became more fair, rewarding Reputation more than Steem Power. As the masses began to discover what Steemit really was (a wonderful place to come together and share ideas and content with the side bonus of an occasional monetary reward), a solid user base flourished.

These small (in Steem Power terms), but vital Steemians grew to trust the Steemit platform. This marked the second wave of the age of Steem. No more were the talks of the system being a Ponzi Scheme. A small number of users were able to make a decent living on Steemit, but the vast majority accepted that the main value was not the monetary reward, but the conversations they shared and the fantastic content they were encouraged to produce.
