3rd party STEEM sub communities and possible future revolution

Just read about the latest hard fork, I think it's awesome. Some might argue that the votes of long time Steemians will have lesser value. However as a community this hard fork lets us grow.

• New users will feel like their votes have more meaning/power and will lead to more engagement/content.
• The more engagement and content make steem more valuable, hence the value of steem power accumulated for long time users can only go up.

As a ecosystem we all thrive. Now on to my post...

It's been a week for me going through Steem, I read around(alot) and I cannot stop thinking of third party apps we can build over Steem.

An Example.
I was thinking in the morning, If we could build an app/website like stack overflow over steem, we could reward developers for solving problems.

Stack overflow is community where we can post questions regarding a programming problem we are facing and other developers offer solutions, the solutions are then accepted/rejected and the person offering the best solution gets reputation points and thus increases their reputation on stack overflow.

If we built this platform over steem we could reward people who offer accepted solutions. It would be an awesome almost revolutionary thing to do. All the freelance and professional developers offering up advice for free on forums and sites like stack overflow right now could be given a second income source. In the bargain we would also be building a sub community of programming Q&A.
I think Q&A sites in general can be a big use case for the Steem blockchain.

So the only problem that would stop me or any dev from building this is Registration : Currently it costs 10 STEEM to register a new user, also inviting users and asking them to wait for a Steem account and then letting them connect through SteemConnect is not feasible from an experience standpoint.

Other problems like vote context and determining the best answer through curation is already built into Steem.

Is anyone working towards something like this? I would love to contribute...
