Are steemit users the best players in the game of earning?
While there is a well know debate on those who work very hard to earn money, and those who are chilling on steemit earning more money. There is this a third totally unfair player on this game of earning.
$32 Million in Ethereum were seized by Hackers through a Parity Wallet breach. I won't get into how hard they worked to find this breach. But I can tell you as much: their work and efforts doesn't earn them this amount of money, or doe it? While some people are envious of steemit users for earning money for just posting and upvoting. These people should see how much a hacker earns just by finding one breach.
Why did this happen in the first place:
Parity Technologies which has this amazing paragraph on their homepage:
Parity Technologies is proud to present our powerful new Parity Browser. Integrated directly into your Web browser, Parity is the fastest and most secure way of interacting with the Ethereum network.
This last phrase with the security, is actually very intimidating to hackers. And still all people write it or something similar to it on their homepage. It is like an invitation to the Hackers saying :"come and test our security". Without even giving themselves the chance to fight back.
What do think would happened if:
These arrogant companies recruited a team of ethical hackers to test their security before announcing this phrase?
They been honest with their clients and gave an estimated percentage of security? So then clients can choose to either take the risk and join them or not.
Wouldn't it be better if they did both of the above mentioned, so at least they would have kept their integrity after such farce.
As an IT Manager I know for a fact that no one can ever say that some software could be the "most secure way" without being thoroughly tested for security breaches.
What they did
after such scandal, is to advise their clients through the voice of their esteemed developers saying: "if they are holding Ethereum in multi-sig contract wallets version 1.5 or later to immediately transfer their tokens to a secure address". And by doing so they are admitting that their announced phrase was a lie.
Let me hear from you in the comment: what do you think about that?
