Tutorial: How to Send and Recieve Private Encrypted Messages on Steemit!

I've seen lot's of people asking and perhaps you've wondered the same thing:
When is steemit going to get private messaging?? I want to share my email or phone number with someone but don't want it to be public on the blockchain!

The answer is it already exists! Although it's not very well known or documented.

Unfortunately it's not completely free to send an encrypted message to someone, but it is still very cheap. It will cost only 0.001 SBD or STEEM to send a private direct message to someone.

Without further ado, here is the tutorial:

1. Go to the wallet page of your account.
2. Click the down arrow next to your SBD or STEEM balance.
3. Click Transfer.
4. Type the recipients name in the 'To' field and 0.001 in the 'Amount' field.
5. Here is the important step:
   In the 'Memo' field put a # (hashtag, number sign, pound sign) and then type your message.
   Your finished message must look something like this:
   # Hey this is a secret encrypted message, pretty cool huh?
   Again, in order for this to work properly the first character of the memo must be a #.
6. Click 'Submit'!

When the recipient logs in to their account they will be able to see the message in plain text under their History in their wallet page.

Pretty simple and easy right?
Hopefully steemit will add method to allow free private messaging in the future, but in the mean time this works pretty well for fractions of a penny!
