Censorship has hit Activist-News on Steemit - Powering Down
A lot of people have been promoting steemit lately, making claims along the lines of "you cant be censored on Steemit" and thats not entirely true. The Steemit platform has been slowly gathering more popularity and less effectiveness since I started using it. While it was nice to meet new people and it was great to see a new platform promoting decentralisation, it has fallen into the same problem every other platform has... A lack of free speech. about 30% of my posts have been demonetized, censored and/or reported by certain people who do not agree with my world view. Because of this issue that myself and other likminded people are experiencing, I feel like I have no choice but to power down and pull out, if I do decide to end my use on steemit, I will be sure to let you all know via here or YouTube. Until I can find a platform that protects everyones free speech - and not just their own - The search continues!

I do not think the solution is to leave the platform. This just starts and you have to fight to be heard.

I know how you feel about folks like Alex Jones and whatnot, but if you're able to post "alt-right" stuff on Mike's site without censorship, then I'd say that's a win. I suppose the true litmus test is if you put up a bunch of WWII revisionist stuff. To me that's the #1 sensitive topic because people in the "truther" world may still find it blasphemous but I'm hopeful that it wouldn't be the case if his real.video project works out. I signed myself up for an invite here, we'll see what happens.
I myself am going to continue to post on Steemit, but I'm not going to overly invest in it. I pay for Vimeo so I may keep that as my main source for now. It sucks because you can only upload so much per week, even on the lower payment plan. It's fine if you post occasional videos but if you want to upload a series of videos like my Occult Science it's a huge pain in the ass. What makes me mad about DTube is there's no playlist organizer. I'm a huge stickler for organization options and while I'm sure features will get added over time, it's frustrating currently and deters me from uploading any of my series videos because it could just get lost in a sea of videos without any major playlist to link them all.
I also think it sucks that after 7 days you can't edit Steemit posts. Why? It's not like your able to monetize them anymore, you should be able to do what you want with them. What if I have a link to a video that gets taken down, and 90% of the content in the post IS the video; that renders the post completely useless when perhaps the same video is simply somewhere else and I can just re-edit the link and save the post, rather than having to make a new one. Even simpler reasons such as I screwed up a reference or some basic info and just want to correct it, I'll never be able to. Hopefully this will change too. Unless I'm missing something and you can edit?
I am generally moderate in my views but I always appreciate the spectrum of ideas and views.

I’m so upset that that is happening to you. Everyone should have free speech. You seem a very intelligent person. I believe everything can change and a long as you keep voicing your opinion. There is a chance it could change for the better
I am afraid I am having the same thing occuring. I mean, no one is censoring as far as I can tell... but the money issue is real. And if someone is attempting to earn a living with this forum, I can see where that will be suffocated. Steemit is run by a corporation out of Austin, TX, I believe. They are putting on some sort of symposium in Las Vegas in April. So you can see it's basically centrally controlled.

Ugh, I've been hearing stuff like this too. Frustrating. Mike Adams from Natural News apparently has a site in the works to upload videos without censorship... well, no porn, communism, ANTIFA or saying you'll kill anyone lol. I'll take that any day over YouTube's censorship and if Steemit turns into something that it wasn't supposed to be, I can say the same. There's not going to be monetization though, that probably matters to a lot of people, but I'll take the free(er) speech opportunity first and foremost.

Got my account was disabled by Discord and now these Hasbara trolls/MOSSAD operatives/Christian Zionists are busy trying to censor opposing views on Steemit.
It might only be a matter of time when Steemit gets bought by multi-national corporations who will gladly censor any content that their Zionist overlords at Silicon Valley may dislike.
