There needs to be more Dtube, Dlive, Steepshot type apps, or accounts like @kpine @thejohalfiles. Accounts that legitimately want to find and expose good content. Accounts that have abundance and lack of greed. Accounts that have the ability to share outside of their own circle of friends.
These are what already exists:
A live video (Dlive vs Twitch
A video (Dtube vs YouTube)
A Social Media (steemit vs facebook)
A photo (steepshot vs instagram)
A short message (Dmania vs twitch)
An Audio (DSound vSoundcloud)
So I dont think we need more apps, what we need are more ways to use what we have and get them into peoples hands. The issue with that is that the current players dominate the market because of the influencers that exists within the apps. People want to know whats going on with users like Cameron Haynes, or Joe Rogan, so they follow their instagram and youtube accounts. So thats one way of having the Fish follow the Tuna.
For all other influencing accounts, those influencers have rewards from branding deals (or a large enough audience to make their own business). When you distribute that branding money to mass users, suddenly the collective strength of a brand weakens since you are fighting against thousands of users who cant make up their mind. Thats where your point about strong accounts really shine. The responsibility to fill that role now bears on whales like @thejohalfiles or @kpine.
heres another way of looking at it, suppose a company such as Nike decided to purchase a 10MM Steem to powerup ( worth about $15MM at the moment). They would then be able to (without spending a single dime) dish out something along the lines of $3500 in value a day. That's enough to power several influencers and put Nike's liquid cash to some use. But the value of steem's coin is too variable for Nike to absorb if it drops, so you need futures contracts to help hedge against those falls. Thats whats missing for large adoption I think.
