For beginners and newbies I have found a great website that everyone can use for a cheatsheet for markdown.

There is also a wonderful app you can use to create documents for markdown you can do it all from your phone and then post it onto Steemit when you are ready. The app is called Vesper there are several other apps as well.
I had a hard time figuring everything out when I first started Steemit 3 weeks ago hopefully this can be a guide to help everyone.
